Timing Problems

Hello,

I'm having trouble timing my 12A that I just rebuilt. I positioned the flywheel correctly and I pretty sure I set up the timing marks and distributor in the correct positions. The problem is the closer I get to the marks, the rougher it runs. Any ideas or tips? I wanna get it running!:)

Oh since the pulley with the marks can be put on 4 different ways is it possible for it to be off but still have the marks lining up, even with the flywheel pointing in the right direction?

Thank you

got you wires routed the right way there champ? bet yah dont :) check spark plug wire routing and make sure the igniter's are firing the right coils!

Yeah I double checked them and they seem to be right. But I was looking at the T and L wires going to the coils and the previous owner had written T on the left coil and L on the right coil. I was thinking though, if t1 is on the left of the engine, shouldn't leading go before trailing? There are no marks besided the ones the previous owner made and my book doesn't say anything. So my question is does leading wire go on the left or right coil?

What do you mean left or right?

Trailing coil= closest to the front of the car.

If you are standing on the driver side of the car facing the coils, one is on the left one is on the right, thats what I meant by left and right. So the trailing is closest to the front of the car and the leading is closest to the steering wheel then I guess the wires aren't the problem it is something else.

So when you're looking at the pulley from the front of the car, which is the leading and which is the trailing mark?

The leading is yellow, it is the furthest right and the red is the trailing, furthest left.
