The thrills of building your wifes car. LOL

So, I talked my wife into a 7 a while back. Figured it would make getting parts etc. easier and who wouldn't want another 7 in the drive, right? Deal was, she chooses, I build. She chose an 85 silver GS. So far so good. Then my spare 12a. Hmmm, ok I'll deal with it. Now she's getting my other exhaust, an RB header to 3" stainless, back to a Magnaflow. Oh, since I'm getting a 48 Dellorto to put on my street port, she wants my weber 45 and intake now too. LOL She got her new carpet in, and I've started putting it in. also ordered a CF gearshift and steering wheel, black seat covers with pink flowers and leather shift boot and e-brake cover with pink stitching. So, here's some pics.

Told the wife she had to help out if I was donating my motor, so her and my 4 yr. old daughter cleaned on the motor. LOL

Car was filled with mildew, and had no motor.

She is what is commonly referred to as a "Keeper".

Should be a fun build, but then you have to con her into autocrossing with you.

What can I say here?........ ummmm "Wifes car, Wifes choice" This is Flaming Fuscia.

Portland82GSL 03-13-10 09:47 PM

looks like its coming along nicely. Too bad you had to give up the Weber, but I'm sure you'll love the Dellorto. lol

installer67 03-13-10 09:53 PM

The wife has set aside the money for a pinnk racing stripe down the top/hood/hatch and or pink graphics. Also if anyone happens to know where I can find some pink or pink and grey seats, let me know, some chrome or pink fender flares too. LOL

OH GAWD MY EYES!!! MY EYES!!! IM BLIND!!!
..Thats.. REALLY.... PINK!!

Thats awesome! My fiancee has a FB too! She helped with the motor rebuild and carb build. I think your best bet on the seats would be to get them re-wrapped at a upholstery shop. Cant wait to see the end result bro... :icon_tup:

Looks like you guys are having fun with it. I cant really say how I feel about the pink cause I have nothing to do with it but im sure you can pull it off.

Maybe some pink fender flares, or maybe black flares with some pink centers on some Enkie 92' could be tasteful and not over done and some pink decals here and there. Also some mostly grey seats with pink accents or piping would be nice. lol

Anyway have fun and good luck.

i would rock that

installer67 03-14-10 12:51 AM

Thanks for the comments, I'm totally cool with any of you guys that don't care for it. Like I said, it's the wifes car and our deal was that she got to choose everything, so I'm just trying to do the best job I can and ignore the pallet. LOL Though I actually am glad she ended up with the pink instead of some of the other color combos she was thinking about. ;) At least it will go with the grey and silver ok. I told her I promised not to bitch as long as she was happy with the end result because she's picking everything out. She wants a "girl" ride and a "zippy" car. She says the side benefit of doing it in her colors is that she knows none of the guys including me will want to drive it when it's done. LOL

LMAO! My wife didn't like my red FB or my beige one, but said the silver one is awsome. I tried to explain it's the same car in a different color, but she says the others are ugly. LOL

working at a detail place i know that that's gonna be a hard thing to do. it's hard enough getting stains out of dull colors.

installer67 03-14-10 12:06 PM

she bought clear floor mats so she can keep it clean and still see the pink. ;)

blackdeath647 03-14-10 12:59 PM

i bought clear mats for mine too, but that doesn't mean when it rains water and other stuff won't get around them ;), but she is a woman so she may be more careful than i am.

orion84gsl 03-14-10 01:13 PM

You should find some cheap crappy pink mats to absorb the moisture. That way when they get ruined you just buy another set.

openshot 03-14-10 01:22 PM

good thing about floor mats you can take them out for car shows to show a clean floor. i used to detail limos and party bus's and that was a pain to clean after a big party

85TIIDEVIL 03-14-10 03:41 PM

Tooo much pink ughhhh... But for a girl, the pink carpet with nice black floor mats to match the rest of the interior I think could still be pulled off tastefully.

installer67 03-14-10 04:30 PM

Well, though I hate to see my hard work go to waste, I told her from the get go that it's her car and once I finish it up "her way" it's up to her to take care of it. Hopefully she does, as the last car I customised for her, a Thunderbird, has been getting trashed. I fabbed a fiberglass console, and custom door mount speaker pods, suede door panels and kick ass stereo. She never really liked the car, so it doesn't get cared for well.

blackdeath647 03-14-10 07:36 PM

i'm sure she'll get that first gen bug we all catch after driving them for a while. and when i say a while, i mean the first time you get to really drive it. :egrin:
