Switch Mount Needed

I need the power window switch mounting plate from an 84-85. Mine's a GSL-SE though I'm almost certain this piece is the same on other cars of the same year.

I'd prefer burgundy though will consider other colors.

I ordered one from the dealership ($30 CDN) then they called and said it'll be here Octobrer 27th. Hoping one of you has one I can buy off you much sooner.

I just pulled the window switches out of an SE at the local u-pull. I left the plate though, if I get out there again real soon I'll pick it up. BTW, today was the first day the car was on the lot.

Manntis 07-20-02 11:43 PM

That'd be fantabulous, Lynn. I'd appreciate that.

Manntis
Did you get my PM? If the other switch plate will work for you send me your mailing info.

Lynn

Manntis 07-24-02 10:03 PM

I've responded :) Hopefully it went through with address intact.

rotor-lynn 07-25-02 05:21 PM

USPS is slow what do you want to do??

Manntis 07-25-02 05:25 PM

FedEx ground? Should be about $20. Might even be able to FedEx it as a 'letter' in a small parcel box via air for the same price. As long as the clips are protected, as that's the only thing broken on the part I already have.

NOT UPS. those Brownies charge huge broker's fees just to cross the world's only undefended border

rotor-lynn 07-25-02 05:28 PM

I take it time doesn't matter now? FedEx won't make it by Monday, I can ship it by mail and you'd get it later next week, way cheaper.

Manntis 07-25-02 05:33 PM

FedEx Air would be here tomorrow. BTW how much do you want for the part?

rotor-lynn 07-25-02 05:40 PM

If you could find me the part that fits under the steering column by the ignition switch I would be very happy. My husband has a 38" inseam and is hard on that piece. I've replaced it once and would like another spare, just in case.

Manntis 07-25-02 05:44 PM

the lower half of the plastic steering column cover?

Mine was cracked from someone overenthusiastically tightening the screws, but I welded it back together.

I can pull the one off my '83 for ya - I forget off hand if the upper or lower piece has the decal for the combination switch, but the decal is there. It's maroon/faded brown.

rotor-lynn 07-25-02 05:57 PM

Sorry, no ICQ. Just contacted the shipping store, nobody promises 1 day delivery out of the country anymore, customs is the hold up. I missed the pick up today anyway, should of stayed home from work. If I send it tomorrow it will be in Canada by Sat, but then it's anybody's guess.

Manntis 07-25-02 06:04 PM

that'll work - hopefully they'll deliver it Saturday instead of being lazy wankers and waiting 'till Monday.

Oh, and the sttering column cover on my '83 is actually black - does that work?

rotor-lynn 07-25-02 08:26 PM

Manntis, I hope you're sitting down. Check your PM for the lastest ripoff.

Manntis 07-25-02 09:54 PM

that's more then the part cost new!

I've responded in PM

rotor-lynn 07-26-02 04:10 PM

The part was sent first thing this morning. Good luck!

Manntis 07-26-02 04:16 PM

thanks :)

mar3 07-26-02 04:27 PM

Why don't you guys PM the next round...sheesh

Manntis 07-26-02 04:37 PM

more fun to let you snoop :)

mar3 07-26-02 05:54 PM

Good point...post some pics next time...

Keaponlaffen 07-26-02 06:28 PM

so how much for the switch cover in the end anyways? :p:

Manntis 07-26-02 06:48 PM

It was $30 from the dealer but Lynn is swapping me the switch cover for a steering column cover

rotor-lynn 07-27-02 11:40 PM

Should we tell them how much shipping could have been?

Manntis 07-27-02 11:44 PM

HA! they probably wouldn't believe it.

I mean $60 US plus brokerage & tarrifs shipping for a $20 US part?

Keaponlaffen 07-28-02 02:12 AM

Ouch....
