Strut Tower Brace
Would anyone be interested in getting some of these strut tower braces for their cars. I was thinking in selling them, but wanted a to see if it was worth it first. If youre interested pm me.

depends on how cheap i can get one and when you'll be selling them.

Fit a 12A too?
Answer all these questions correctly, and Im interested. Got almost the same exact bar in my Talon (design wise) |
I'll say that I'm interested, if the price is right.
I like the bar,
just had an offer to buy one for $25.00 $35.00 shipped to my door, had to turn it down cause im so damn broke. |
What is it made of? Those plates look a little flimsy.
It looks good to me, hell, if i can get it around my carb, i will take one for a reasonable price... broke college student, and even more broke because i have a 7....:(
ok i just realized something. when i tried it on a 12A it had a dellorto carb. ima have to check with one that has the stock airbox installed see if it clears it. hehe ima have to install it the carb back on the parts car, and ill let you guys know.
Put me down if it fits a 12a
um, its called modification guys. if it hits anything it will be the end of the metal tube judging from the pic. so just route around it. besides it will be a good excuse to devise cold air ducting. we get a discount if there are quite a few right?
If they fit a 12A, I'll take 2 of them. resonable price..
sign me up for one, but for what price??
whats the latest?

Just making sure this thread doesn't dissappear. Any conclusions on cost yet?

That bar might prevent the strut towers from moving towards or away from each other, but it won't keep them from moving in the same direction. When you corner hard, the outside strut tower is going to flex outwards and the inside tower will want to flex inwards to a lesser degree... so it'll help by preventing relative motion but the system can still flex. (imagine four straws taped together at their ends to form a box) Don't get me wrong, though... some help is definitely better than none.
Even if the bar was rigidly attached to the strut towers, the front half of the chassis could also twist in relation to the firewall. Those strut towers are a long way away from the firewall. In a way our cars have a unibody-backbone design because of how enormous the transmission tunnel is - it goes almost all the way to the top of the firewall! Ideally we'd triangulate to the trans tunnel area, and then we'd have something a lot like the RB three-point strut tower brace (illegal in many classes of racing). I'm going to copy that design when I make my own, plus triangulate it to the nose of the chassis as well. That front end ain't gonna flex one bit! :D |
