Straight pipe exhaust

does anyone got some kind of audio etc for a 12a with the cats removed, caz i heard it was kinda loud, id like to get rid of the cats on my rex

DriftFB 10-19-06 07:50 PM

what? I don't understand your one sentence.

Do you want a louder audio system in your car to cover the sound of no cats?
Or you want a audio/sound clip of a exhaust with no cats?

Naegleria_Fowleri 10-19-06 08:04 PM

I am pretty sure he wants a sound clip of a 12a exhaust without cats.

Mr.Snakey 10-19-06 08:52 PM

thank you , sorry if it didnt make sence, i thought about what i was gunna say to much and frigged it up

Ludicrous 10-19-06 08:57 PM

I had a RB header to straight pipe to RB muffler - nothing in between. Everyone was always surprised that it wasn't LOUDER. :)

85rotarypower 10-19-06 09:56 PM

Kinda loud doesn't even begin to say how loud the car will be. You WILL get pulled over, probably in the first day of driving. Trust me, I know just how loud these cars are. The first time I started my 12A up, it was only the exhaust manifold on it, no exhaust system. I knew it was going to be loud, so I got ear plugs. They were barely enough. I couldn't even hear myself yelling at my dad to shut down the car. He was reving to 7000 on a cold engine, hence the reason I wanted him to shut it down.

Just so you know, the stock muffler is really buzzy sounding without the cats and its real loud, almost like having no muffler.

openshot 10-19-06 10:34 PM

i am thinking of puting a Straight pipe exhaust but i dont want it to be realy loud

notveryhappyjack 10-19-06 10:44 PM

my set up is

rb header-custom 2 in to 1 pipes that connect right at the rb muffler

I think it sounds like crap imo, everyone always thinks I'm racing when I shift at 3.5 k

personally I like my friends stock exhaust the best as lame as that sounds as an enthusiest myself.

notveryhappyjack 10-19-06 10:45 PM

the above set up is louder at wot them my friends yamaha R6 at wot, and everyone knows how loud crotch rockets are.

jonjonwells 10-19-06 10:47 PM

Uhhh, straight pipes......are you insane. If you value your eardrums, reconcider.

speaking of I was out driving one night going through the I90 tunnels in seattle with both windows about 3/4 up, I took a wot 3rd gear run to 7,500rpm and just let off the pedel and waited for the backfire.......it sounded like a gun was fired two feet from my head and nearly scared the shit out of my self when I even knew it was coming.

Same thing happened to me, except I was in the middle of the woods and suddenly everything had a hardcore orange glow to it. I didn't warn my friend and he nearly jumped out of the car. Funny shit.

trochoid 10-19-06 11:34 PM

If you leave the stock exhaust mani and straight pipe the cats, it won't sound bad. Once you add headers, it's too loud.

coldy13 10-20-06 07:10 PM

I run 2.5" straight pipe, it's LOUD AS HELL. If I drive it for more than 20-30minutes I wear earplugs

Mr.Snakey 10-20-06 08:57 PM

wow, what if i keep the stock header, add a straight pipe exhaust, with a pre-silencer and a magnaflow muffler, or somthing like that

blwfly 10-20-06 09:01 PM

header......
iv got one for sale but canadas pretty far lol

Mr.Snakey 10-20-06 09:03 PM

yea my headers still in good shape, i just wanna change the rest of the exhaust, i hate the cats

adrock3217 10-20-06 09:15 PM

Meh, Full Racing Beat setup, OR..

Header, Borla XR-1 welded inline, and some random muffler on the end. Will be loud, but NOT unbareable. The XR-1 is EXCELLENT.

13BNUT 10-21-06 01:03 AM

what about Headers>glasspack>and magnaflow or dynomax muffler at the end with 2 1/4" piping.?

OtakuRX 10-21-06 05:02 AM

I have a rotory engineering header and a collecter I got from RB along with a RB silencer then piping to a AeroTurbine Muffler and I register 84-86db at 60ft which is quite loud at WOT. In the cab it can reach up to 95db with the windows down and WOT. It is alot of fun but kinda loud, they don't like me in a city. She sounds about as loud as a hog or harley.

pjr 10-21-06 11:35 AM

Can anyone speak to the volume of the Racing Beat header, the RB pre-silencer, and then going to a muffler (either stock or Magnaflow)?

notveryhappyjack 10-21-06 09:26 PM

another few questions
what the hell does the rb presilencer do ?
does it hurt hp's ?
does it actually make the exhaust quieter ?
