shorter bolts needed for fan
i have a flex a lite and it clears by about half a CM so i was wondering if anyone had shorter bolts so i can take the stock fan mount off????????
oil pan bolts plus a washer. be sure that it clears the water pump.
Oil pan bolts without a washer worked for me. They're the type of bolts that can be found on 1st gen and later engines, and not the long type found on early pans which use spacer type things.
Show pics. I put my Efan on and have tons of cleaearence. I reused the stock bolts on the fan shaft without any issues.

thats because u kept the spacer. without the spacer, you cant use the long bolts. |

OIC. I re-read ur post and yes, you can use that too. he is referring to the 4 short bolts that to attach the fan clutch to the spacer. |
i have the flex a lite cyclone and it is 4inches off the rad. so it barlly clears
could i just go to the hard ware store and get the same bolts but in a shorter length and what length |
i went to lowes and got bolts with the same thread pattern but were shorter
I just used a Dremel and dressed the rough surfaces...;)
You know, you can use a hacksaw to cut them down... ???
If you cut the bolts down make sure you put a nut on so when your done you could back the nut of to give you nice threads!
for the $0.85 that some bolts cost i wouldn't take a chance of half-assing it and cutting them down
Ah, but then the bolts wouldn't have the factory "washer-built-into-head" feature, would they? Calling it half-ass to modify parts to work in a given situation instead of just buying something right off the bat is a slap in the face to gearheads worldwide.:nono:Just to make your judgmental person feel better, though....a hacksaw?? No need to go caveman on us, dawg....:p:
 ps. And they cost more than 85 cents with gas prices as they are with our hungry rotaries....;) |
