shooting flames out the carb!!!!
Has any1 seen flames out of da carb... wat could it be...help plz

Flames out of the carb is usually after shut off when you have residual fuel still in the carb and the ignition timing is off. Atleast with piston motors, never had it happen on one of my 7's though.

Tecnically the flaming carburetor should not be possible on a rotary, unless the rotors are caked up in carbon deposits or the trailing is seriously off.
I actually doubt that you can offset the trailing that much. Just for visuals. PIC = Trailing plughole and allmost closed primary port. https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...d=223530&stc=1 |
have you been messing with your timing or anything?

Check the timing.

I've actually seen flames shoot out of a Nikki before. It was an '81-'82 engine with unknown miles, but looked to be on the high side. We checked the timing and it appeared to be correct.
We pulled the engine but it has not been torn down yet so the cause is still unknown. |
The side seals are shot. if the springs dont push out the pressure just sneeks around the side. My guess is it may have gotten some water in there by sitting or bad gas or coolant and it rusted the spring or seal.
Crome could be gone as well and the apex isnt sealing good enough. |
