Sensor on bottom of radiator. What does it sense?

Basically, what does it do? does it really work? Whats it called? do i need it for anything? Where could i find one? I thought i saw it in VB, but i misplaced my catalog.

The one on top is just a level sensor for the idiot light right?

Thanks guys.

thats a damn good question

yeah the oen on top is for the idiot ligh, and the temp sensor is below the oil filter. i checked the haynes manual and it doesnt mention disconnecting anything besides the low coolant sensor. hmmm
i dunno what it is, i took it out of my rexes with no ill effects though

I think it's to sense when it's warm enough to pop the choke back in but I could be wrong.

gamble302 12-27-02 04:13 PM

could be, but i thought the sensor on the water pump was for that?

Just looked it up and sure enough the sensor on the water pump is for the choke and the hot start assist. The sensor on the bottom of the radiator is for the emission control system. It sends a signal to the ECU when the radiator temperature is above 59 degrees.

Great job!
Four more wires I can yank out!
(Or 2 more temp sensors I can figure out something neat to do with. ;) )

The sensor thats right next to water inlet neck affects the choke ... I know this for a fact, because i had to replace mine once, choke wouldnt stay out or go back in, i forget? But I rememebr the fucker was expensive :(

But thats what it was..

It does the same thing on a GSL-SE, right?
I know what its called, its a Coolant Temp Switch, the Relief Solenoid controls it or something... for the GSL-SE,
The One thats on the water pump is the Coolant Temp Sensor, they're expensive.

Anybody know how to check it, if its working
