Rotary Performance Mufflers?
I have searched the site to see what people have said about the muffler replacement from Rotary Performance. Has anyone had experience with these mufflers? How about the bonez cat?
|
When I had my bone stock 12A, I used their cat. I don't think I needed it to pass emissions, but it was a lot lighter than the old one and lowered the exhaust tone; probably because it had a presilencer in front instead of the precats. I think I put it on to stop the exhaust popping.
Don't know if this is 100% true, but I read somewhere that Rotary Performance, Mazdatrix, and Racing Beat mufflers all come from one supplier. Could someone verify this? |
That looks like a pretty nice piece. I might have to get one. My current ebay special I think is about used up.

The muffler looks just like the RB piece, except the tips. The price is close also.
|
Wow! The racing beat and rotary performance mufflers do look very similar. The monza is definitely a lot more oval shape compared to those other two.

^ Am I seeing that right? That muffler looks like it only has 1/2" holes in the tips. |

yes that is pretty odd i wonder why they did that

You guys haven't had your coffee yet. Those are rubber protective covers. The photographer forgot to remove them for the picture.
|
It looks similar in construction to my RB unit, so it's probably a pretty decent quality.

Arranged as it is, the tips of the exhaust each constitute an effective rocket nozzle, as seen here: http://www.nakka-rocketry.net/nozzle/noz5.jpg Now this, predictably, will increase exhaust flow (its a rocket man) but it also has the side effect of creating thrust. We all know that rotary exhaust gas pressure and velocity if off the chart. Here is their tested results in regard to thrust-vectoring of the exhaust. http://www.olats.org/pionniers/malin...s/figure_8.jpg As you can see, at 10,000rpm, the thrust is quite high. :icon_tup: |
I'm going with this.

I'm just using a stainless magnaflow and a header with a straight pipe :P
|
Yea I talked to Ari they are protective covers for shipping. They have very nice polished tips under those covers.
|
They should really take a new picture and update that because I've looked at the picture many time and never thought they where protective covers. From a consumers stand point I was just confused and just went and looked at other exhaust systems.
|
I take it no one bought this one before.... I tempted, need a new muffler and it $50 cheaper then racingbeat and $25 cheaper the mazdatrix
|
Would the 85 muffler have a single pipe exhaust compared to the one pictured?
Is Racing beat the only one that has a engine to muffler exhaust system for sale? Last question I can think of...... Would an 82 dual pipe exhaust system fit on an 85 car? |
Mazdatrix resells the Rb stuff and RB gets these made in Italy and I assume
these are from the same supplier in Italy. It looks identical. |
I know there will be tons of people saying that the racing beat exhaust is the best but how about the pacesetter exhaust? I used the headers several years ago and they worked pretty well. How are the pacesetter muffler sound compared to factory?

No man, its actually to increase exhaust flow rate.

Does anyone know if the Rotary Performance Muffler would work with the RB street port exhaust system?
|
They look similar, might want to call and make sure. I just broke down and bought a RB muffler.
