Pulsation damper leaking... Replacement or banjo bolt? Your tought...

So my pulsation damper is leaking. I'm one of the lucky that found the problem without caughting fire...

I've done my research and found 2 solutions. Replacing with an OEM part (Mazda still carries it for 141$ Can) or putting a banjo bolt from Earl's part number 997591 (5$)
From what I understand, it helps creating pulsation momentum so the gas and injectors are on the same tone... It seems like a part that is not quite necessary but at the same time, if Mazda engineers placed it there, there is probably a good reason.

Oh dear rx7 gurus!.. what is your advice?

I thought the whole deal of a pulsation damper was to dampen the pulses of the fuel?

And, I've always wondered why you can replace it with a simple banjo bolt. I'm confused about this one as well.

Id replace it with a banjo bolt...i also caught mine before it caught fire...my PD was also leaking. Im waiting on some injectors grommets and other small things but yeah...im putting a banjo bolt in the place of my PD. I have heard some say bad things about replacing the PD with a banjo bolt...but have also talked to a lot of people that have done it and have had no problems at all since they did it. I looked around on here a lot and didnt find anybody having an actual fuel problem after replacing the PD with a banjo bolt.

In my opinion i would definitely go with the banjo bolt, before i did my swap I had replaced my PD twice and the second one went bad in about 10k miles, since i put the banjo bolt in i have not had the least bit of a problem with anything fuel related.

I recently replaced my FPD with the banjo bolt mod and havent had any problems. I heard a few naysayers when I asked but noone that had any actual experience proving this to be a bad mod. Hardest part is making sure you get the right part (I picked up a used 86 non turbo fuel rail).

rotary resurection made a nice write up on this mod:
