problems

this is kind of hard to explain but i am having problems with the electrical system i guess.Sometimes when i try to start my car everything will work but when i turn the key nothin happens and all the power is gone untill i wiggle these wires under the hood.I dont know what these wires do but i know without them i have no power to my car as if the battery were dead. The wires are connected to a box that is connected to the positive battery terminal. There are 3 wires and they are connected by a rope material and have 6 ends that plug into the box.It should be on the drivers side behind the battery.Anyways,I pulled them out and had a look at them and they seem pretty rusted and fragile so i dont want to mess with them too much cause i dont want to break one.Does anyone know what these are and where can i get some new ones?
Thanks
Aaron

well the battery is fine, what happens is if i try to use too much of the battery it shuts off and i leave the key in the on position then wiggle those wires and i hear it click back on.It doesnt happen all the time but it did yesterday and it took 20 mins to get it working again.

I think you are talking about the fuseable links. I would start be replacing the links with new ones (make sure not to use regular wire, get real fuseable links).

Yep, disconnect your battery and take the box apart along with the links and clean all connections. If there originals corrosion is most likely the culprit.
