What does Paul Yaw charge to rebuild a carburator and modify it a little?

I am not looking for a race carb, just a good cleaned good running carb for my 12a

he's not really a rebuilder, he modifies them for best performance given the limit of your rules. this includes rebuilding.

More like $350, and plan on spending a total of around $500 by the time you get done. But, you will see a dramatic increase in the performance of your RX.

Just got info from Mazspeed that he is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY busy and good help is apparently hard to find in Tuscon. When everybody and their brother is sending you stuff to work on you tend to get swamped!

Maybe I should move :D Naw... it's only 80 degrees outside now and already I'm thinking about taking a nap in the fridge! :)

I just heard that he has someone doing the carbs and he is focusing on race engines. If you get one of his carbs, you will need to get a specific pump and fuel pressure gauge. In the end the $500 number sounds closer, but well worth it.

what about just cleaning and rebuilding a carb to run with stock and factory pumps flters, lines, etc?

You don't understand. Even with a stock carb the stock fuel system is garbage and most likely holding you back. You NEED to upgrade the fuel pump and add a regulator, which also necessitates a rather high-quality pressure gauge so that you know what you're setting the pressure to.

The think the work you're interested in would qualify as a PRO-7 carb, since PRO-7 rules require the carb to be unmodified. However this costs the same as the Super Street carb so why not go all the way?

Yup, if you run anything but the stock carb (and even with the stock carb!) you absolutely need a good fuel pump and regulator. Personally, the guage I bought was shite, and I had no problem setting my fuel pressure adequately for my Dellorto without its useless assistance lol (with a Holley 4-9 psi reg, and my Dell requiring 4.5psi, it isn't too hard). However, the Yaw is apparently more sensitive to pressure being off by a little bit.

No carb swap is cheap if you want it to run properly... make sure you understand all the parts you need before you get into it. Even small things like fuel fittings, line, clamps, etc, really add up the $$ once the job is finished.

OK, I get it... all this "finely tuned settings" and stuff probably isn't a good thing for reliability. I am using this car as a daily driver and I just wanna make this car run as good as the day it left the factory. I have a new engine (not a rebuild... a new 12a) so I am not that far from it... :)

No, no, the fine tuning makes it run great ALL the time once you get it setup. The $50 and the $75 can really make the carb come around. There is a guy her in town who runs a Yaw carb on his seven and never has a problem.

My 80 with the Yaw is my daily driver. It runs fine, if I can just keep my foot off the floor.

I've got a spare carb that I would like to send to Mr. Yaw for "the treatment". So if you can't e-mail or call him, how would I go about setting this up? Any advice from someone who has dealt with him?

Anyone have a Yaw Carb they would care to sell ??

Oh you can email him, good luck :) You can call him, good luck getting him to call back or even answer the phone... I emailed him like 16 months ago, still nothing. I emailed him 3 x's to be exact... I know hes good, but I got ZERO tolerance for anyone that cant even email, sorry im very busy, try again in 3 months or something :)
