Oil cooler Retrofit

Hello, I just have a quick question.

I have a 1983 GSL with an SE swap. It's running a beehive oil cooler and I hate it. I hate the higher oil temps, I hate not having the pedestal open for gauge sending unit adapters, I hate the oil leaks I have, etc. I wanted to know, if I get an FC oil cooler (easier to find than a first gen cooler) Could I just retrofit it with some fabricated brackets to sit in FRONT of my long dual core radiator instead of sourcing a first gen FMOC, short radiator, and hoses. I could take my stock hoses (or 2nd gen oil cooler hoses) to a hose shop and have them make me longer hoses to go around the radiator using new hose material and the stock end fittings, but would this still allow the radiator to cool well? I mean, the rad is longer than the one on FMOC cars anyway right? I just don't want to source out and pay for a full FMOC conversion (cooler, hoses, and new rad) if I can get some nice hoses, a cheap FC unit, and use my stock long rad. so, any opinions, comments, or things of the sort?
