Need pics of 1st gens with magnaflows

Im looking at putting a magnaflow for the rear muffler connecting to the racing beat dual presilencer system. The problem is I went to magnaflows site, and I have no idea what would actually look good on the 7

So can you guys that have magnaflow mufflers on your car, take some pics of the thing installed, and tell me what model number it is? Also tell about the sound.

deeman111 12-24-04 06:33 PM

well i dont know what model it is, but the sound is sweet. I have it as a final (and only) muffler. Im running 4 resonators 2 per pipe to the diff then 2.5' over diff to the magnaflow. The flow is great, and the sound is HORNEY!!! i only had it on a stock 12a for a day before i put in the bridgey but it sounded great and was very quiet at idle and sounded amazing when the gas was stomped :D

There a great piece of kit and who cares how it looks, go for functionality over looks... coz even a bag of shit overtaking you with a sweet sound has more respect that a nice looking car that has no balls

Oh and Merry Xmas to all!!!!

EDIT: I found an old pic, hope it helps

Mine wasn't a magnaflow, but they pretty much all look the same.
Mine was 3" with a 4.5" tip.

Geeez....ok...tell me....your muffler doesn't create a lot of noise or what? It's huge...I expect a loud sound...how is it really?

Eville140 12-24-04 07:48 PM

Only help I can give is to how it looks, my car had a ford 4cyl (see sig) with a turbo so it wasn't really that bad.
I did here mikep's 13bre turbo with a 3" magnaflow and it was about the same loudness, but in a different tone. Alot more high pitched.

I want to keep high pitch out of the sound as much as I can. Magnaflows from what I hear perform excellent, and will put up to a rotaries heat punishment.

I have a racing beat muffler on the car now, but I need something that will flow enough to get the most power out of a supercharged streetported 13B

this is the muffler i told matt to get that he is refering to

3" inlet, and an option of dual 2.5" tips or dual 3" tips.. this is a straight through muffler also.
the reason i like this one is because it has kind of a "beefed up" stock look with the dual tips and all

Dan_s_young 12-24-04 10:19 PM

DF what model of magnaflow is that and how has it held up for you?

Moonchopper 12-24-04 11:09 PM

I hate the 3.5"/4.0" mufflers because they remind me too much of rice. I like the milder ones.

But, you know, different strokes for different folks.

That's the one I was lookin' at....where did you buy it from(link).....do they only have the 3 inch inlet though???

Unsupa 12-24-04 11:43 PM

yea buddy, i'd much rather have that magnaflow than my ebay cannon... if it came in 2.5" i'd be all over it..

blazer1313 12-25-04 12:24 AM

I had a magnaflow on my '81 and maybe it was the model the exhaust shop gave me but I didn't find it great. It was loud and had the rotary sound. No high pitch like a coffee can eBay muffler but I dunno. I do find that dual 2.5" muffler couple posts ago very attractive. I am considering a Dynomax....

82streetracer 12-25-04 12:26 AM

3in turbo back, MF #14209 center muffler and #14835 rear muffler.

82streetracer, i really like the way your outlet looks. Not ricey at all yet still looks sweet im gonna try and look for a magnaflow with a stock inlet with a similar outlet... Oh ya sounds sweet too very throaty!

are you running a t-88 diesel?... why would you want bigger than 3"
if you are wanting smaller yes.. they ahve a 2.25 for n/a applications, and a 2.5 inlet for smaller turbos.

this muffler can be found for $140 bucks at www.kteller.com.. go to their online catalog then mufflers.. you will find it there.. this is the first time ive ever seen this style muffler in a 3" inlet.. you have no idea how long ive searched for this muffler and i thought it didnt exist ...lol

that muffler is WELL worth 140 bucks... throw that in the back with a magnaflow straughtthrough right after the downpipe and you will be in deep sounding rotary heaven. :D

lemonade 12-25-04 11:26 AM

stick with the duel tip......

i think all these single tip mufflers look ricey on first gens.

i actually have that muffler tea ess eye. i just tried to keep it as close to stock looking, and it looks real nice

esoto66 12-25-04 11:44 AM

This is my muffler. Little bit loud but love the look.
