As ignorant as I feel about this, I do not know my blood type. If it was a match, I would be glad to if expenses were covered seeing as how I have my own new family to support. Heck I may be about to enter a custody battle, I do not know.

Just for the record, all expenses would be covered by our insurance.

I want to thank everyone again for the support, it's genuinely appreciated ny the Mrs. & I. If you haven't already, please like & share the FB link among your friends...
Peace my fellow Rotorheads.

Dude, my blood type is A+. I can't give you a kidney, but I donated blood today in your honor.

Take care of your wife and take care of yourself, too. You need to stay strong and in control.

Same here, my heart goes out to you and your wife.

Does she HAVE to have O+? Is there any way a different blood type would work?

Thanks. Either O+ or O- would work, O- is the "universal" type that can donate to anyone but is also the rarest......

Thoughts, hopes, prayers, and best wishes your way from a fellow Rotary owner. Tough times bring learning, and it's written that "you're only given as much as you can handle" - so you and your wife will come out stronger than you went in to the situation. I'm engaged to be married and thought of my fiance and I going through a similar situation. It must be hard, but keep on pushing through.

Best of luck, it's a shame the others didn't pull through for you. But if it's any consolation it sounds like quite a few people are getting the word out which at the very least helps bring some hope.

Thanks guys. My wife recently joined a new transplant center which allows "paired donations". It's where if you have a donor that isn't compatible with the recipient they help you find another couple that's in the same situation & you pretty much trade organs being they're compatible with each other. I spent my Friday at the transplant unit getting tested. 21 tubes of blood, a chest xray, ekg & a cat scan. Now we play the waiting game to hear if everything is good with me to proceed with the next step. If all goes well, hopefully we'll be under the knife in 6 months.... Wish me luck fellas, I'm all in!!

Thanks Bro!!

Update: So she was transferred to a new transplant facility do to insurance reasons. This new place participates in what's called "the paired donors program" which basically allows anyone who's not a match with her, but wants to donate to her to come forward & get tested to see if they are in good enough health to donate. They then begin a chain of transplants with couples who have donors that aren't a match as well {basically swap them around so everyone get's a matching one}.

I got tested 2 months ago & was told I was a bit over weight & pre diabetic. I went on a strict diet & basically stopped all sugars. 20lbs later I'm @ a good weight & the symptoms of the diabetes are gone. We go in 2 weeks to fill out all the consent forms & then it's a waiting game, should be no more than 6 months as oppose to 6yrs... :):icon_tup:
