My wife needs a Kidney, please help...

Greetings fellow Rotorheads, I'm going to keep this short & simple. So I decided to share this with you guys in hopes of getting positive energy & support.

My wife has been on dialysis for over 3yrs & is in need of a Kidney. Where located in NYC & her blood type is O+. We've found 2 potential donors through my Facebook page which I'm going to ask you all to PLEASE "like" & "share" but neither of the transplants went through for reasons I'd rather not get into....

Here's the link guys, again all I ask is to please like & share it. Organ donation is currently playing a major role in my wife's life & I, this is a critical situation & it kills me to see her deteriorating as the time goes by. Thanks for taking the time to read, it's really appreciated.....

*My apologies for posting in this section of the forum, I really didn't know where to go with this....

Seeing as how you own an FB, I moved this here. I considered the lounge, but that was asking for trouble.

If anyone has an issue with this thread being here, please PM me.

Best of luck to you and your wife :icon_tup:

Screamin FC 02-13-13 07:55 AM

i really wish i could help man. id give my own if at all possible but im in the air force and ive spent too much time around hazardous materials and aircraft and the "x'd" me as an organ donor. hope everything turns out for the best

Screamin FC 02-13-13 07:57 AM

and unfortunately im not the correct blood type.

Siraniko 02-13-13 08:20 AM

Your wife and I have the same blood type O+. I can donate blood but I have been told that it must be used within 3 days. If you can make the arrangement, delivery wise from red cross or something, please let me know. My prayers are with you also.

killalot13601 02-13-13 08:29 AM

As ignorant as I feel about this, I do not know my blood type. If it was a match, I would be glad to if expenses were covered seeing as how I have my own new family to support. Heck I may be about to enter a custody battle, I do not know.

idiazs 02-13-13 08:42 AM

Sorry man I will like and share it today when I get home I know it sounds hard but try and stay strong I know it's hard. She's still here and with god will get better.

gerald m 02-13-13 09:12 AM

My daughter in law had kidney problems I saw the same thing happen 10 years ago . I saw her go down hill for a long time ,. finally a young man from British Columbia donated one to her . It took some time before things changed around but finally she is totally functional and living a productive and healthy life , she is actually getting married in the spring and looking forward to having children . I do know how you feel , its hard some days . Keep your hopes up and focus on good things it helps to talk to people . Gerald m.

Best of luck stay possite will keep you in my prayers!

Siraniko 02-14-13 08:14 AM

Most hospitals in Cali get donors thru "One Legacy." I dont know the procedure, I just know about them as my son is a nurse and One Legacy and and my employer are located in the same building in downtown LA.

ru1i8b4 02-14-13 08:23 AM

My thoughts and prayers are with your wife and family.

highnitro12187 02-14-13 08:30 AM

RX7Comet 02-14-13 10:54 AM

So this is making me sad so i personally played doctor on myself last night and cut out a kidney where do i ship it?! (if only i was man enough and had the same blood type..)

Monkman33 02-14-13 11:03 AM

I'm A pos, but you reminded me to go do my normal donations. Ever since I joined the Army I have been donating semi regularly.

I wish you and your wife the best. Stay positive! (no pun intended)

SpooledFD3S 02-14-13 11:24 AM

I want to thank everyone again for the support, it's genuinely appreciated ny the Mrs. & I. If you haven't already, please like & share the FB link among your friends...
Peace my fellow Rotorheads.

Same here, my heart goes out to you and your wife.

Does she HAVE to have O+? Is there any way a different blood type would work?

Thanks. Either O+ or O- would work, O- is the "universal" type that can donate to anyone but is also the rarest......

karle 03-19-13 04:45 PM

Thoughts, hopes, prayers, and best wishes your way from a fellow Rotary owner. Tough times bring learning, and it's written that "you're only given as much as you can handle" - so you and your wife will come out stronger than you went in to the situation. I'm engaged to be married and thought of my fiance and I going through a similar situation. It must be hard, but keep on pushing through.

rotor convert 05-10-13 11:35 PM

Best of luck, it's a shame the others didn't pull through for you. But if it's any consolation it sounds like quite a few people are getting the word out which at the very least helps bring some hope.

Thanks guys. My wife recently joined a new transplant center which allows "paired donations". It's where if you have a donor that isn't compatible with the recipient they help you find another couple that's in the same situation & you pretty much trade organs being they're compatible with each other. I spent my Friday at the transplant unit getting tested. 21 tubes of blood, a chest xray, ekg & a cat scan. Now we play the waiting game to hear if everything is good with me to proceed with the next step. If all goes well, hopefully we'll be under the knife in 6 months.... Wish me luck fellas, I'm all in!!

Thanks Bro!!

Update: So she was transferred to a new transplant facility do to insurance reasons. This new place participates in what's called "the paired donors program" which basically allows anyone who's not a match with her, but wants to donate to her to come forward & get tested to see if they are in good enough health to donate. They then begin a chain of transplants with couples who have donors that aren't a match as well {basically swap them around so everyone get's a matching one}.

I got tested 2 months ago & was told I was a bit over weight & pre diabetic. I went on a strict diet & basically stopped all sugars. 20lbs later I'm @ a good weight & the symptoms of the diabetes are gone. We go in 2 weeks to fill out all the consent forms & then it's a waiting game, should be no more than 6 months as oppose to 6yrs... :):icon_tup:
