My 79 Limited, an update (pix pix pix)

Well, as many of you probably saw in my first thread ( https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/first-7-where-start-440287/ ) I've been restoring a 1979 Limited with 24,088 original miles on it. I'm still working on it I thought people might like a slightly updated set of pictures I took today of the engine bay and all that in hopes of comments or suggestions! Well, here they are :

Where she rests currently.

Her backside

Good old dirty engine bay.

Looks like you've got the dual DCD setup there, huh?

Does the LED clock work?

I drove an RX4 that had that setup once, it had really strong midrange but lacked a little on top. Might have been tuning as those things can be a PITA to keep dialed. Still, a good improvement over the stock RX4 carb (which is not a bad carb by any means).

what are the differences between a regular '79 and a special edition '79? i just bought a dash and cluster from a special edition. i havent recieved yet, but i've seen pictures and the speedometer is opposite of mine with mph in small numbers and kph in big numbers. its hard to tell from your pics but it doesnt look like yours is the same.

Looks good. But with 24k miles, where's it been? Left outside?

It's been in an open-air barn, not too wet not too dry so suprisingly things are in great condition. The Limited Edition had all of the available luxuries, leather steering wheel, digital clock, and the special wheels. They were also only produced in black. Only 3000 were made worldwide.

Sounds like it must've come from another country. Wouldn't make sense to sell metric-dominant gauges in the US.

Well then, You just answered your own question then. Canadian speedo's are in kph not mph.

No can do quite yet, she still needs brake work before I can actually drive her. :-( But I'm going to drive her from the barn to the lawn so I can have access to the pressure washer (hose length constraint) hehe.

hope it starts!

when we first started mine, it took tons of cranking. Be sure to charge the battery between attempts. When it finally did run on its own, poured out smoke for aboout 5 minutes.

The '79 LE had a 120 mph speedometer.

I put one in my '80.

Damn, I still say that's gonna be sweet. Please, don't start it IN the barn, you may very well die of CO poisoning!

Well, as you can see in the pictures, the barn is a double-door barn. Both doors are open and it's got very very good circulation. But I'm rolling it out to the gravel before I start it. I'll come back later with progress report. :-)

Good luck!

Is that black the OEM color? I'm interested 'cause there's a guy around here with a v. nice black 79 he's willing to sell to a fan for $2k and I see him tomorrow. I've been looking for a nice SA.
