motorcycle carbs
I have searched this forum to find some information about using motorcyle's carbs on a 12A. The things i found where lots of "What if" stuff. One suggested to use the carbs of a kawasaki 500ccc twin, other suggested that even when you use 1200 cc four carbs, you have a flow problem.
Are there people out there how actualy have motorcylce carbs on there rx-7? From which bike did you use the carbs? Jet settings? other mods? Sattisfied? |
just get a weber.

It IS possible. I know someone with som ekind of 4 carb setup on their Scriocco.

Youd have to make your own manifold too. Its possible I guess, if your willing to go through alot of trouble. I dont see any gains from this though.

Hands down, a pair of carburetors from an EX500 with 105~115 mains (depending on enviroment and mods) or 120~125's if ported. A good machine shop can build you a Y like the one in the link below for about $45, the carbs you can get for $20~50, $100 factory pro kit, 4" of radiator tubing at about $.90 an inch, 4 hose clamps at about $.25 and piece, and some RTV sealent at about $3 a tube...you'll end up with a carburetor assembly superior to a more traditional webber setup that you can completely dial in during your 30 minute lunch break (I'd like to see a reletive noob do that with a nikki, holly, webber, dellortowhatever, or mikuni auto setup) at an actual fraction of the cost. umm, not that im aware of. it will WORK, just like fuel injecting a lawnmower will work...
the problem is the flow, when carb shopping, think of your engine as a 2.4L boinger that goes red at 7 to 8 krpm so you need two carbs that feed enough air and fuel to that concept... Id love to find the bike they came off of. |
