Modified Fuel Pickup To 3/8 Lines
 

With the bigger carb I decided to switch to a 3/8 feed and return and vent lines from the tank to the carb. I removed the tank and modified the stock pickup using AN-6 bulk head fittings instead of the stock 1/4" and 5/16" lines. Then I ran a 3/8 feed and return line to a Mallory regulator and using a Holley blue pump to feed the carb. This should solve any fuel starvation problems. This was pretty easy to do because I ran the lines in the stock locations and used fittings from the Parker store instead of Earls or aircraft fittings

Are you using the SE tank or the GSL tank? Looks good have you tried it out yet?

gsl tank and as soon as I remove the roots or jack stands it has planted in the garage it will be going and I also mounted the battery behind the passanger seat in the bagage bin

I've never seen a GSL tank that the pick up and return were mounted to the plate. Real 12a factory tanks the lines were solderd into the tank. You got lucky and have an SE tank. Unless there's some Mazda conspiracy that I don't know of and I just keep getting the crappy unmodable tanks. Most likely the latter...

as far as I know it is the stock tank unless it was changed before I owned the car

My gsl tank is the same only its missing the lines now bc i forgot where i put the plate.

All 84/85 tanks have that style pickup. 83 and earlier have the pickup tubes welded to the tank.

Nice job. I think you should consider putting a sock on the feed line though.

I did this for my blower setup. I wonder how many people replace all the lines ahead of the tank, but don't replace the lines into the tank? The system will only flow as much as the most constricted passage will allow it to flow, so it won't do any good to replace everything except the lines into the tank. I used JB Weld to fasten the new lines into the plate.
