Looking for the difference between the 3 FB trim levels

Couldn't find 1 specific post with this information.

so...

What are the difference in the suspension and brakes between the trim levels?

GS

GSL

GSL-SE

I have a GS and I recently picked up a disc brake rear out of a 12a car. So this should be a GSL. Correct? What other suspension/brake differences are there between the GS and GSL.

Does the GSL have LSD?

What the GSL bolt pattern?

Are the front Rotors, calipers and brackets are the only difference? Can the GSL rotors and brackets bolt up the the GS front?

it really depends on the year as different sized drums were used as well as front spindles.. but for the sake of mentioning an SE, i will stick with 84-85. the S, GS, and GSL all have the same fromt brakes and suspension. the GSL adds solid rear disc brakes while retaining the same rear suspension as the others. the GSL-SE adds larger front rotors and larger rear vented rotors. since the SE's front rotors are larger, it uses larger spindles than the S, GS or GSL.

the S and GS use drum brakes and a non limited slip differential. the GSL adds the limited slip with the rear disc brakes. the GSL-SE also has a limited slip differential but with larger axles and different gearing. as a note, the 13B transmission in 1984, was idential to the 12A trans except for having a vented bellhousing. the 12A transmission had a 5th gear ratio of 0.807 whereas the SE's 5th gear is 0.758. the final drive for the 12A cars was 3.909 vs. 4.076 for the SE. in 1985, the SE's 5th gear ratio changed from 0.758 to 0.711, the 12A trans stayed the same. the final drive for the 12A cars was changed in 85 as well. it changed to 3.933. the SE's final drive remained the same at 4.076.

I hope the info helps you a little!
