I know this post is old, but does anyone know the exact size of the original sticker? Working on a reproductions or my 83....

mazdaverx713b 06-21-12 11:19 AM

i can measure the one on my 85 if you would like

SteveNC 06-22-12 10:13 PM

Yes please. In hindsight I should have measured what was left of my fading sticker before it was removed to tint the windows.

mazdaverx713b 06-23-12 12:55 AM

i'll measure it tomorrow and post the dimensions and maybe a few pics

jbherri2 08-08-12 11:22 AM

Was anyone successful in having the IMSA decal/sticker reproduced?

I'd sure like one.
thanks.

so far, not so much

I got one from a guy in Puerto Rico a year or two ago who was selling them. It's a pretty good copy, only issue is it's about a quarter inch bigger than the original.

I'll be putting it on my current FB project, the White One II.

Not sure if he's still selling them but the price was right, something like $15 shipped.

Here's a photo of the sticker not yet installed:

too bad its a shade too big. wonder why the guy couldn't make it the exact size.

SteveNC 08-09-12 01:13 PM

So what size is the original sticker?

Ray - Any info on the guy you got this from? Size doesnt' matter to me - without a point of reference you would never know.

I will try to remember to measure the round non-faded spot on my window when i get home. Previous owner must have peeled it of.

jbherri2 12-05-12 01:39 PM

Glad this has come up again. I'd sure like one. Any information on obtaining the decal?

Original sticker is 3.5" diameter.

ray green 12-06-12 05:12 PM

I measured the one I have again, it's 3.75" in diameter, just a little bit bigger, but I don't think it will be noticeable. Taking a close look, it does look like a pretty authentic image, it's the 1983 version. I'll know better when I peel it off the paper and stick it to the glass.

I'm pretty sure I got the sticker on ebay a couple years ago and I think this is the ad, but I also remember it being shipped from Puerto Rico and this looks like a US vendor, so not sure:

Theres a local shop in my hometown that reproduced my 1985 decal for my gsl resto. its perfect, cost me 105 bucks to have made though :(

I can throw a pic of it up if anyones interested. Im having them do the "Mazda Rotary Engine" on the breather too :egrin:

ioTus 12-12-12 03:12 AM

$105 for a STICKER? Yikes! I could make one on my own for a fraction!!

What process do they use that they are so proud of?

wankel=awesome 12-12-12 11:02 PM

They do a lot of one off weird decals and such for old gassers and muscle cars. Having a guy sit down and perfectly replicate one without destroying the original was the expensive part imo.

bugman, aren't you in the Navy? do you still have your 7??

turbogslse 10-08-13 10:21 PM

Is there still any interest in these?

I have the ability to produce them if folks are interested, I could do a run.

Whats the price? I have interest, but honestly I couldn't see myself spending too much on a sticker.

I scanned this and the other linked thread, but couldn't determine if anyone had gotten a really good, (properly sized, sharp, etc) source image to work from(?) I have an unused/uninstalled IMSA back glass one. Not sure which year - I'll see if I can dig it up this weekend and I'll post a pic.

mazdaverx713b 10-09-13 04:39 AM

yeah, that would be awesome!! i've never seen an unused one!

My 85 SE still has it. In good shape too. What I do need is the "RX-7" sticker that goes on the rear hatch latch.

I don't think that is a sticker. I think it is painted on.
