Thanks for the support.

Truthfully I have never really seen a size limit for it. Just the 500 letter limit that I couldn't get the desciption in anyways.

Hades12 12-08-04 09:35 AM

That is what happens when you leave the safe confines of the 1st gen section.

It is a dangerous world out there.

:)

Pele 12-08-04 09:57 AM

I thought you got busted, like by the cops...

Man you got lucky. Glad it worked out in the end.

anthrax 12-08-04 10:03 AM

Ya the other forums/Generation Owners are way too up tight.

Its a much nicer wrold here in the first gen forum...

And you are right a PM would have been a much better way to handel that not with an open post in the thread...

rcefstsfecr 12-08-04 10:08 AM

It's funny when I read this thread. I too thought you were busted by the cops, and it always seems like since I'm a 2gen'r that we always say how "mean" the other gen owners are.

Hades12 12-08-04 10:30 AM

actually posting in the thread is the nice way. When they want to be mean they take it down and put rude comments in its place.

Sterling 12-08-04 10:36 AM

I know when I open a thread the last thing I wanna see is your piece of shit of a car!

:D (j/k)

cdrad51 12-08-04 10:41 AM

Oh. So much for a safe 1st gen forum. Sterling is in da house! :D

Oh what? I can't have a lil' fun?
;)

cdrad51 12-08-04 12:03 PM

Yeah, it's just sometimes your idea of a lil' fun can be a lil' scary!

I dont see what the big deal is...so what if you have a large sig.

Sterling 12-08-04 12:24 PM

I hate it when I have to scroll side to side to read posts. I only really care about the width of the sig. I used to hate long sigs, but now I don't care. I think it just demonstrates vanity if you feel compelled to put your sig on every post you make.

anthrax 12-08-04 12:29 PM

:withstupi

It is an akin' pain in the arse to have to scroll side to side to read the posts, but who cares how long the thread is...

:werd:

never understood the long sig thing. One of the forums I used to post on (paintball crap) would ban a person if their sig was too long, no questions, no warnings, just ban.

web777 12-08-04 12:55 PM

I don't like long sigs either. It is relevant when you have a question about your car so others can see what you have but other than that, it is not necessary.

Hades12 12-08-04 12:59 PM

It is not the Lenght or Width that needs changed but the Size, rules state that sig can not be more then 20K.

Get on here with a 56K modem and you will see the problem with large sigs.

Surprisingly Sterling and I finally agree on something... :D

Exactly.

Sterling 12-08-04 01:20 PM

I certainly understand the pride in one's creation and all, but sometimes only certain pictures should be allowed...Like Sean's exhaust flames, shit like that. His naked mother, etc.

vipernicus42 12-08-04 01:30 PM

Honestly, I don't like the fact that they've lowered the character length for sigs. I've never used pics in mine, I don't see the point. If you want pics, just put your cardomain link in your sig and shrink your fav pic to fit in your avatar.

But I always used my sig for info about my project update. I'd put it on all my posts so that anyone would be able ot see what my latest progress on my 84GS was if they were interested. I also put little witty comments... but the latest sig size restriction since the forum changed over won't even allow my witty comments, let alone my project update. When the forum changed, I was allowed to keep my sig the size it was, but that's useless when you can't change it and the whole reason for it is for updates.

Hell, mine probably still says "waiting for a clutch disc" when my clutch was installed months ago.

Either way, my sig was never intrusive. It was text, smaller than the text of my post.

Jon

Uptight can be carried too far, especially in contrast to the near total lack of rules in this section. Anyone can post anything about any topic here. In addition to the for sale ads (which at least are the same generation of car), there are now threads about 3rd gen car scam, (as if one had to ask...) and now this thread which has no relation to any RX-7 at all. This section might as well be renamed the Lounge or general chat/items for sale section. Just be sure to preface the post with "This probably does not belong here, but I (a relative/friend/someone) own (owned/saw/saw a picture of/heard of the existance of) a first generation RX-7..." Lately we omitting that crucial part. :p:

Keep in perspective and meanwhile talk about your dates, sell livestock, or trade pop songs here but don't complain about rules elsewhere. :p:

seanrot 12-08-04 04:32 PM

So, I have a good to go from Sterling, minus his desire for mature women porn. :bigthumb: That might lead to his inability to find his way home to his own bed. (for those of you new to the sterling/seanrot relationship, I have a tendancy to take cheap shots at his location in the avatar)

I don't think I have gone overboard on my sig. It is essentially straight to the point. Got the flame pics that I will probably never see again, cause the carb has been leaned out. I'm proud of the car, I made it inbetween the parking spot infront of my house and the shed in the backyard. Welding the exhaust and all with minimal tools. So yeah, im going to show off alittle and in a couple monthes I will update the sig, but it will be the same size. With new info, planning on street porting an engine and installing it in the spring summer time frame.

I just dont think its TOO BIG. its on the verge but not.

SWING! It's pretty sad when you know to expect a delay in download time on a thread due to someones sig size. Not all of us have broadbands and high speed isps., we are too busy driving around in twenty year old cars to worry about getting away from dial up.

DAVID GRIMES 12-08-04 10:51 PM

DSL and broadband haven't made it to 'bama yet ?

Our 1981 Tandy computers with monochrome screens and tractor feed printers are high tech over here. Shucks, we still have those copy machines in school that use purple ink and when the teacher hands out paper with wet ink every student starts huffing the fumes off the pages. :rlaugh:

mcnannay 12-09-04 01:43 AM

i got busted too...

so this is what i changed my sig to

It was why our generation was so attentive in school, only we had no idea of our faculty-imposed addiction!..."Ooooooh, another diddo sheet!, Yayeee! *snnniiiiiiiiiifff*"

cdrad51 12-09-04 10:11 AM

Oh see now that explains a lot of things :)

I lost in court like my new sig?

Jeff20B 12-11-04 12:45 PM

Ah, diddo. I liked trying to figure out what was within the creases and folds. It was very mentally stimulating. Kids today have it too easy.

Who is "they" and when were you "threatened"?
IMO, you are only asking for a vacation. Is there a need to start this thread?
Why is this thread up in the 1st gen section? WTF does it have to do with 1st gen rx7's?
Sorry you dont like the rules that you agreed to when signing up for the forum. If you dont like the rules, then you shouldnt be here. Nobody is bending your arm forcing you to stay. "sig police"... yeah, that would be the mods doing their jobs. Sorry you dont like it. Now you are starting to piss me off. I read the crap in the original thread and was going to let it go. Was there a need to start this thread?
Thread locked. Oh and check your PM's since apparently you MUST be warned via PM.
