I am sure that's a FC trans and series 5 based on the trans mount. The shifter on a fb isn't as far back either

S4 NA trans. I mean it's pretty obvious.

Thanks guys, a lot of replies, but nothing solid...

Anyone have a pic or can find a pic where this trans is mentioned or seen.

I just want to be 100% positive of what this trans belong in.

how is it not definitive?

its an M style transmission, which means it was in a non turbo 79-92 Rx7.

it has the remote style shifter, so 81-92

it has an FC transmission mount, 86-92

the transmission mount is an S4, 86-88

the bellhousing is the early non ribbed style, so 1986, maybe early 87.

if its never been apart before, it should have a dual row ball bearing bearing for the center countershaft, instead of the roller.

As I said, S4 NA. That means 86-88 like j9fd3s said. That is pretty solid. Well, except for being an early S4 as I thought all S4s had the smooth bellhousing and all S5s had the ribs. Now I learned something.

But you can bank on the fact that it is definitely a 1986 transmission. Not an '85 and not an S5.

So now tell us why you need absolute truth as far as what the trans goes in. Makes no sense to me. Why the need to be so precise? Your thought process should have been more like: FC trans? Good. S4 or S5? S4, ok. Done.

Thanks, I just happened to exhaust my search for pics with the exact trans, as I see all near identical units, but they do not have the vent in the bell-housing! Which is why I wanted to make sure which cat it came off of, so that I can list it for sale! I dont want to sell something that would not fit the car its going to be advertised for!
