i just recently installed my new fuel pump,but i hadnt started it in almost a week (vacation),so when i go to start it white smoke came out,w/e, then i went to go take it out for a lil drive after it was warm and then i hit second,and when i go for 3rd it shuts down :/...i got to start it again and the fuel pump was making this clacking sound....when i drive it seems to me like its not getting enough fuel could it be that theres something (rust,dirt ) in the fuel line??if it is then could i fix this problem with just driving the car around every day?

 

Did you replace the fuel filter? Also go back and check to see if the rubber fuel feed hose at the pump is kinked.

Also, what was the reason for replacing the fuel pump and is it a stock pump?

 

i replaced the fuel pump because it just wouldnt work one day...fuel filter was changed,and no it isnt stock because i got an upgraded carb and ported exhaust..

 

Before you let it sit for a week did it run ok?

 

yeah it did it ran perfect...its a rebuild with about only 226 miles on it
