Headlights/wiper combo switch
Greetings,
Need some help here. I read through the threads about cleaning/replacing the combination switch but can't seem to get mine off. I'm wondering if there is anything different with my 84se compared to some of the instructions I read which were for older 1st gens. I have the clamp loose on the bottom of combo switch and don't see any reason why it won't come off the column. Any thoughts? Am I missing something? Thanks! |
If I remember correctly there was a plastic clip that snapped into the metal of the steering column tube. Take a quick look for that, you might need to lift the clip up with a flathead to get it to slide off.

Thank you! Will look at it later.

Update: got the combo switch off the column. Turns out, I just needed to work it a little more like I had to do with the steering wheel, lol! For anyone trying to do this just remember that all you need to do is loosen the clamp on the bottom.
Thanks! |
Ok so those two little ball-bearings that work the high beam on the headlight swich-------well I lost one. Kentetsu warned me in his thread about not losing the little ball-bearings, lol! So,does anyone know where I can get another one?
Thanks! |

Sorry, I should have given another update. Yes, the balls are 4mm. I went to my local hardware store and they had the standard equivalent, which was 3/16". But because it is an iota bigger than the 4mm, there is more of a snap when I push the lever out for high beam and a bit louder as well. I actually need a whole new switch as one of the prongs broke off which kick the turn signal off.
Thanks anyway Hawk1 |
