Question Headlight Problem

My pop-up lights have me mystified. They pop up just fine, and the lights work, but they won't close. I've searched for a long time trying to discover out the problem, but I just can't figure it out. The fuse is fine, I tried replacing it. All the wires seem to be plugged in, and the only other problem is that the cigarette lighter blows fuses periodically because of some sort of short I think. But it is totally off of the timeframe for the headlight problem. The only thing I can think of is that they stopped retracting at about the same time that my clutch slave bit the dust, but that obviously doesn't have much to do with the electronics and I already fixed the clutch slave.

Any ideas? This is really starting to **** me off

The switch that opens them without turning on the headlamps is probably bad. take it out and bypass it, see if the lamps go down. rx7doctor

Mine stopped opening UNLESS I use the switch. The lights turn on, but they dont go up. Since I have had the car they have went down by themselves a total of 3 times (about a year). Ideas on that one? Sorry, not trying to thread jack.

Headlamp problem

Here is what i have deducted. Any of the 3 fusable links out and the headlamps will not go down. The bottom fusable link is for power to the headlamps, the other 2 could be out but the headlamps should light. The center one if out will take out the chime reminder light and the instrument lights. If the top fuseable link is out the headlamps will come on but will not open.
Headlamps opening but no lights except flashing is usually the combo switch.
Hope this helps. rx7doctor

My links have been replaced with fuses. All 3 are good. When the lights go up (from operating the switch under radio) the dash light comes on that says headlight. Could it be possibly a bad wire? Oh man, that would suck.

Stupid question at this point, you have checked all of your fuses under the dash? I had a blown fuse, I think it was the one for the regular parking lights/interior lights, and my headlights would go up but not go down until I replaced this fuse. I don't normally drive the 7 at night so I took me a while to figure this one out.

If not, get you DVOM out, if you don't have one get one. Start checking you voltage's at different points and make sure you have good grounds.
