Some guys demonstrate the freewheeling fan by stopping it with a finger (but not me) and some guys throw a rag in it (not me - maybe it'll tangle in the belts).

If it's a defective clutch it will stick on and make a loud whooshing sound always and that will lose you HP. I had one like that once, but it's long gone.

Follow the thread and any links included that refer to the actual dyno testing. I doubt that even with concrete proof you will believe.

Okay, back to the original intention of the thread starter:

I have just purchased a 1983 GSL with Weber side draft carburetion. 165,000 miles, ouch, for $1600 :) . I opted for the '83 GSL becuase it is relatively light, has the discs and lsd rear end. I will eventually add light weight flywheel.

Questions: It has a stock clutch, but comes with a new "6 puck" clutch, not installed. What is it, is it good, and will it increase the amount of pressure I have to use to push the clutch pedal?

Thank you all for providing the info I needed and for running a good board.

It shouldn't increase the force you have to use to disengage the clutch. But it should hold a hell of alot better.

I bought a 83 gsl SWAPPED with a gsl-se. Honestly i don't know everything that i have on my car which is which. I mean i know i have a gsl-se motor and limited slip, but is there a way to tell what interior and suspension I have? I have power windows, a se gauge cluster, lsd, a fuel injected 13b, and 83 gsl 13" rims. But thats about all i know.
