Pulled my baby out of storage on the weekend & pulled the motor out today getting ready for a turbo swap. Progress would be slow because I work 5 to 6 days a week. Will keep you guys posted.

Tweakit.net mistake

2 Attachment(s)
Got my blowthrough plenum from www.tweakit.net & was doing some measurements & found the holes don't line up. If you look at the picture, the plenum measures 70mm across. Now the IDA throttle body measures at 65mm. Very well pissed off about this & I waited 6 weeks for this part. Anyway gotta get it fixed myself. Don't wanna wait another 6 weeks. For those of you that order from Tweakit.net, be aware.

What the status of the car? any pictures?

mpk490p 05-19-08 04:12 AM

should be a great project, are you using the stock 13b GSL-Se motor or changing to turbo rotors? ive just got a 48ida but am looking to go blow through in the future

Mark

Didn't do much yet on the car but will keep you guys posted. The motor is a ported 4 port 13B I bought of a member of the forum. If you search Andre Sinclair, all the specs on the motor are there. It's streetported on the intake & race ported on the exhaust.

Lynch 05-19-08 09:13 AM

Info on the motor:

13B 4-Port (Old School Plates - Resurfaced) Street Ported Intake
GSL-SE Rotors 9:4 Compression (Lightened), 3mm RA - Super Apex Seal
GSL-SE Rotor Housings (New) 5mm Overlap Race Exhaust Ported
Harden / Modified Stationary Gears (Front-Rear)
Three-Window Bearings (Front-Rear)
Oil Pressure Regulator Modification (Front-Rear)
Thermal Pellet Modification

Intercooler

R.P.M. Motorsports did the intercooler mounting, piping & 3" exhaust. Great job & highly recommended for fabrication work. Thanks again guys.

dj55b 08-25-08 11:45 PM

Ya i saw the whole thing being welded up on saturday. Neat little setup and I'll be doing something similar with my Fuji racing itb's but I'll be doing a supercharger (rotrex). I did mention over there that if your intercooler was upside down (as in the inlet and outlet are on the bottom side) it might make things a little bit more efficent. The way you have it mounted on there right now most of the air will be travelling in that top part of the intercooler and the way you have things setup doesn't flow the air as much as the bottom to cool down the air charge further.

Also they told me that you're keeping the stock SE fuel pump? I would at the very least get a walbro external pump instead of the stock one. Also not sure if the stock piping size is enough to really feed those 4 injectors? (How big are those anyways?).

Lynch 08-26-08 05:45 AM

Everything is being upgraded in the car. Fuel pump, lines etc. Every issue is being addressed. Thanks though.

dj55b 08-26-08 10:34 AM

good to hear :icon_tup: the one other thing that i'm still unsure about too is that fuel rail really flowing enough.

dj55b 08-26-08 11:14 PM

did you use to work in London?

mazdaverx713b 08-27-08 01:00 AM

hows the swap coming?? looks about beautiful!!! you say that you're addressing issues. what issues are you having??

AsianImage 08-27-08 02:30 PM

Very Nice B.T. setup

Keep up the good work, your project looks great!, wish I had the means for a quality build, I'm ashamed of my hack self:cursing:

more air flows over the lower part of the inter cooler where it's placed. More air flows through the top of intercooler where the pipeing is. flip it over and make it more efficiant. simple enough, well not really cause them you'd have to redo the intercooler piping.

Lynch 05-01-09 04:42 PM

In my opinion I really don't think it would make that much of a difference (if any).
Look all thousands of high horsepower cars out there that have the same setup.

Lynch 05-01-09 04:43 PM

Glad to read everyone's input though.

Ahhhh makes sense now. I was confused from the way dj55b worded it.

Looking at that graph though, I'd assume you are having ignition breakup issues.

Lynch 01-11-16 07:42 AM

yes we are so we didn't raise boost until that is addressed.
