GSL SE Rear caliper options

Hi all, UK based here.

I’ve got a 1983 RX-7 running the factory rear big vented rotors (4×114.3), but I’m stuck on the rear calipers. I need to refurb them and I can’t find any rebuild kits that include pistons anywhere.

As far as I can tell, the rear calipers themselves are no longer available new. I’ve checked RockAuto and the usual places with no luck.

Does anyone here have a good usable set of rear calipers they’d be willing to sell and ship to the UK, or know of anywhere that sells new pistons for these calipers? Alternatively, has anyone successfully swapped to a different rear brake setup (FC RX-7 etc.) that works with the vented discs and handbrake?

I’m open to fabrication if needed, just trying to avoid reinventing the wheel if there’s a known solution.

Cheers 👍

Some hear have converted over to fc rear brakes. ( my understanding is there the same as gls se rears) Im not sure if the pistons are the same but might be worth a look to see. And or swap to fc rears. Techno toy makes a kit that will get you a set of willwoods with/without e brake function. And I have successfully made Rx-8 Rear calipers work not on a se axle as i don't have one to get measurements off of. But have made them work on a drum to disk conversion and have the files for a gsl or disk axle to rx8, But have done zero testing. And unless you rebuild I think every aftermarket option is a 15 inch wheel minimum.

MHR650 is one who has done it.

I've never seen pistons come with caliper kits, at least for our cars. They usually contain the o-rings and grease, sometimes the shims and springs but they're also a separate kit.

Have you taken the calipers apart yet?

I used FC pistons when rebuilding mine, and I've read that FD pistons may be compatible.
