I just stumbled across this thread again and man that car came out great! Really liking the overall look you gave it with the kit and paint job etc. :)

I tried buying the same flares from the same seller on ebay, but he wont respond. Lol, ebay.

82transam 02-20-15 07:48 AM

I was poking around ebay yesterday after reading this thread and it seems like there are a few sellers with basically the exact same flare. I'm wondering if they are the same as what he used here. They look similar, but then again most flares look really similar in pictures... After seeing this thread I kinda want to get a set!

Which ones are they?! I spent an hour looking on eBay and wasn't sure on the exact ones FM used.

They're growing on you aren't they? :egrin:

I'm wondering if I can tuck those Epsilons under the stock fenders, I'm excited to see if I can or not.

bikeordie092 02-20-15 03:08 PM

ok, dumb question, lol. how did you attach these? i want to flare mine, but id like to make them easy to replace/remove. i was kind of thinking some of those flat nuts with the round head screws, but i dont know if that'd work very well or not.

Mine will be mounted with stainless flare mounting hardware. Theres a golf cart modification business near me (lol) who make the perfect set...

Btw found the origin of the "alternative" flares FM used here:

www.Aerofiberglass.com | Custom Fiberglass & Carbon Fiber Manufacturer

http://www.aerofiberglass.com/produc...ares-set-of-4/

Reasonable price, and the original manufacturer. No middle man!

wankel=awesome,
Those look like the same flares. Might be a good idea to call them and ask what the measurements between the inside of the two ends is. If it's about 26", they'll work. I believe the measurements they give on the web site is from outside to outside, which isn't useful when determining if they'll work with your wheel arch.

bikeordie92, I used big stainless rivets to fasten them on.

nice thread... i have some ZG flares but im thinking of doing these if they are easier to install and dont require much modification.

MosesX605 03-05-15 03:34 PM

I love the car! :drool:

Great use of flares, ducktail and chin spoiler to evoke the look of the original IMSA car without the over-the-top sizing.

The wheels are a particularly nice touch. :D

Fungus Mungus 03-06-15 01:55 PM

Thanks again all. It took her out in full regalia to the SFR SCCA auto-x event in Marina last Sunday. Ran a best of 43.04-something. Not bad for 120 bhp.

Love what you did, just like the hotwheels cars.
I put flares on my car in 2008, I cut the rear fenders for lowering and wider wheels. Car was disassembled for 2 years and is now going back to together.
Your car has inspired me to maybe put on the other 2 flares I have on the front now that I have a FC front subframe and suspension installed.
Thanks so much for sharing your build!

Decided to order a set of the flares from the site that Wankel=Awesome posted - http://www.aerofiberglass.com/produc...ares-set-of-4/

I'll keep everyone posted on how fast they get here, how they fit etc :)

wankel=awesome 03-15-15 04:10 PM

I'm about 2 days from doing that myself. Love how they turned out.

82transam 03-20-15 12:17 PM

Yeah, don't order from that piece of crap site. Been a week and no replies to any of my emails. I just opened a paypal dispute... lovely

wankel=awesome 03-21-15 05:22 PM

Ugh, sorry man...

82transam 03-21-15 05:35 PM

Not your fault!

Fungus Mungus 03-23-15 11:20 AM

I'm sorry to hear the company hasn't delivered. No excuses for their poor communication but my understanding is that their turnaround time can be lengthy. When I purchased mine from ebay, It took me 3-4 weeks to get mine even though the auction stated they were "in hand". Is there a phone number you can call?

fm

82transam 03-23-15 11:35 AM

I figured it might take some time and had they emailed me to indicate as such I wouldn't have a problem, but I've emailed them 4 times, no reply.

I called the number on their site but it immediately goes to a woman's voicemail, who doesn't identify herself as part of the company, or reference the company name at all, so I didn't leave a message.

My director has the following written on his wall at work "Set expectations and Over-Communicate" really sums it up :) Really is the key to good business... Anyway I digress :)

No hard feelings to anyone here at all! I escalated it to a paypal claim so we'll see if that gets their attention.
