what bodykit is that?
|
The body kit is a Versatec kit by BIS SmartParts. Originally made for Mazda of Switzerland, it's a urethane kit, so it'll hold up to the bumps the car will take in auto-x. You can see a pic of this kit installed on a stock RX-7 in the book "How to Modify your RX-7" on pages 130-132.
The kit originally came with a front air dam, side skirts, rear side skirts, and a rear wing. I don't have the wing, but I wouldn't have used it anyway...I like the stock 3-piece IMSA style wing better. fm |
More pics of the front, showing more of the car. Progress was slow last week. Hoping to have this done by the end of next week.

OK, a little progress. The front driver's fender has been cut and welded and the flare has been mounted:

Looks good. U planning on using any rubber welting between the flare and the body?
|
Probably not. The gaps are minimal and we've been talking about using seam sealant instead.

More flare porn. Front and rear driver's side installed. Still will need finishing, but you get the general idea. Remember that the flares, body kit/air dam, and rear wing will all be body color. Then I have a little something else in mind (TBA at a later time).

me like it!!! And those rims gave me a flashback of my first car...back-up rims/tires to a 74 v6 capri with AR 4-spoke libre rims and dobi body kit.

Great:worship:find:worship:FM:worship:!!!
I'm totally considering getting a set of these for my preemptive next build already - great job on the install and keep the flare porn coming (get it)! |

Thanks all! As stated earlier, these wheels are my backups as well. They have grown on me.

http://www.diyautotune.com/jwplayer_...ftside_med.jpg The car is looking good. I like that lip kit. I did some research and figured out that these are Western Cyclone II wheels (14x7). You can see them here. 4x108 bolt pattern. Correct me if I'm wrong.
They actually look pretty nice on the car. Wobble bolts? Hub-centric rings? |
Nope, these wheels are 4x114.3. I looked around online and I've seen them on older Corvettes, Camaros, and such.

I am really interested to see how it looks with your autocross set up, with your 13's. That company did a beautiful job refinishing them. I apologize if this has been covered before. What is your suspension setup?
|
Hawk,
I am too...unfortunately, those wheels will have to wait for proper tires, which won't happen until the car's out of paint. One thing at the time. My suspension setup: - GSL-SE front spindles and rear axle/disc brakes/LSD - Bilstein AE86 shocks in the back - Tokico Illuminas (MR2 versions) in the front - Eibach lowering springs (150 lb) in the back. Too high now...will cut dead coils to lower it once the flares are done - GC coilover sleeves and camber plates. Springs are 350s. - RB front sway bar (no sway in the rear) - polyurethane bushings in the front for everything - custom Coleman lower trailing arms w/heim joints - stock upper trailing arms with the bushings "softened" by drilling some holes in them - custom Coleman watts links w/heim joints Not suspension per se, but helps with handling: - new OEM steering box - Moog idler arm - new pitman arm (wasn't necessary, but I was on a roll) - new inner/outer tie rods - new OEM front lower control arms fm |

Is that the rear or the front shock from a MR2?
