It occurred to me that one of the reasons we may have had folks having some 'run-ins' around here lately is because of the growth of this section over the past several months. Until not too long ago, the 1gen section was relatively quite, and most of the members that post in this section regularly knew each other and where they were coming from. I doubt that's the case anymore, as this section is now (I would venture) among the busiest parts of the forum. In light of this, I thought that a thread that reacquaints us all with one another might go some way to establish a common groundwork between us all again. With that in mind, I'll start us off ...

My real name is Ken. I have an early 79 S model that, over the years, has pretty much been brought up to GS specs as far as the interior of the same year and so forth. Briefly, my car has a streetported 12A, header, 2.5" exhaust, RB muffler, 4.44 rear end w/lsd, rear disc conversion, 5spd (it originally came w/the 4spd), light flywheel, stock carb (have the RB modified Holley in a box in a garage back in Ohio), Panasport rims (13x5.5), RB springs, Tokico blues, urethane bushings front and rear and maybe a couple other things I'm forgetting right now.

My strongest area, I would say, is suspension (though I am by no means an expert) and my weakest is probably carburetion. I've owned my 79 since August of 97 (odd little play on numbers there) and I'm the 3rd owner.

On a somewhat more personal note, I was in the Navy from 93-97 (parachute rigger), worked in a couple auto parts factories (if you have a 97 or 98 Ranger, Explorer or full size ford truck that came w/the factory hitch, there's a chance I may have been the guy that welded it together for ya), went to college and graduated last December with a BA in psychology, and not too long ago, moved to North Carolina to take on a new job. My newest toy is my 02 Miata, but I still love playing with the 7 as well.

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. Who's next?

Still living in sin with my girlfriend, a Seattle psychiatrist. As part of our ongoing therapy, we have clothing-optional weekends around the house. :)

my name is michael. i bought my car in june of '02 by another rotary guy that wanted a gsl-se. mods are in my sig.

ive been into rotaries since i was about 13-14, im 16 now, and my first car had to be an rx7. my dad got me into them, and his first experience was a guy in high school who had an rx4 that could spin roughly 13k. when his motor went at 125k miles, he decided to go chevy and drop a 4.3 liter v6 in it. i love driving his car, but at the same token, i love my car. both have their strengths and weaknesses.

personal level... i try to learn as much as possible about my car. im only 16, about to turn 17, but i dont take my car for granted at all. yes, sometimes i do dog my car, but she never sees redline, maybe once or twice on accident, other times, she doesnt see about 3-3.5k. im very good with computers and wanted to be my career choice, but recently ive been debating that. im thinking a mechanical feild is better for me since i dont want to spend 3/4 of my life at a computer desk, but things always change. its a difficult thing, and most people have gone through it. but thats why i have my car, to mess around with, go on this one road called snake road (nick named snake road for a reason). decisions suck, responsibilities suck, growing up sucks. i dont want to grow up honestly, if i could stay 16 forever, i would because i know its going to be a biotch later in life if im not doing somehting i love, which is why i want to do something with cars..

My name is Tom, 1985 GSL. Pretty much stock, but have done a bit here and there to keep her in better running order. Custom exhaust, DLIDFIS, rats nest removal (click sig for tutorial! ;) ), insulated cold air intake, midnight blue metallic paint, Mariah SCCA ITS/ITA legal airdam.

My strongest area is sadly graphic design rather than the actual mechanics. I know "enough to be dangerous" and although I am fairly at-home under the hood of my car, I'd rather be driving her round the twisties than be working on her.

However, since I am a graphic designer by trade, I am attempting to help with the documentation of the more-popular mods out there. Not doing that to get rich (so far, donations for the 1st have just about paid for 30 minutes of my time), but more to help people who not might be as mechanically-inclined as others (like myself). Ideally, the time spent actually putting the tutorials together is a wash, with donations hopefully covering the cost of doing the mechanical work/buying the parts.

I've owned my 7 since 93, and plan on choosing between keeping the 12A and porting etc, or doing the 13B, 20B, TII swap, something-else-that-my-wife-can-yell-at-me-for-doing-instead-of-spending-the-money-on-her-type-change-to-my-car *whew*.

Hi my real name is Bob and yes, I too am a rexaholic ;) My first car was a 1976 Mazda Cosmo, that car was, well.... the best. I had so much fun with it. Anyway, over the years I've had many cars since my beloved Coz.... Honda's, VW's, Acura's and Audi's. My Honda CRX was a blast to drive as well as my Golf but my Acura, which I had a long time kinda left me in "car hell". It was, well, boring. In 2000 I sold it and bought my Audi A4 1.8T and that turned me around again. What a great car! Anyway, I've always loved the rotary and I rebuilt a half dozen or so when I was a young pup. Mostly for RX-2,3,4's and of course my Coz's engine. I've never forgot that great feeling of how the rotary felt and I always wanted a 1st Gen RX-7. You still awake? lol Anyway, I bought my 85 GS last Feburary and I've been have nothing but a blast with it ever since.

My name is Aaron and although I've only had my 7 since March I've known several people with 7's of all generations. I have a 1985 GS with GSL lsd, RB header and exhaust, 15" rims, Mikuni sidedraft carb and intake, and really cool silver flames on Tender Blue Metallic paint.

I am the manager of an Autozone parts store and am an ASE certified Parts Specialist, so I know some about cars of all types. I enjoy helping people solve their problems and learn to fix their cars themselves. The more I can learn about rotaries on here, the more I can pass on to my rotary customers, many of whom come to me because I understand what they are talking about. I won't say any names but try calling a parts store and see how many people will actually try to look up a set of piston rings for your rotary. I would love to start my own rotary shop someday but a wife and kid take all the time and money right now.

Hello, my name is Alex, I am 30 yrs old and happily married. I was a U.S. Marine during desert storm, and later became a police officer in my hometown. I am also a regional manager for a large Bank/Mortgage Company that has been in business for over 200 years. This is my main source of income.

As far as my 1st Gen history is concerned...

I have owned 7 1st Gen's since my late teens. At 25 I bought a 95 Extended-Cab Ford Splash (Ranger) and fell in love with it. So much so that my mint 1985 GSL-SE with a streeport and all the goodies fell to the wayside. Thinking I outgrew 7's, I sold her back in 96 and vowed to not have another freakin' rotary. I then filled my need for speed with me '98 Sea-Doo GTX-L, and put a lot of time into it, trying to squeeze every last mph out of her. (69 on the Radar, not bad for a 3 seater)

Fast Forward to October 2001. I have a Puerto Rican landscaper, who one day brought his 28 year old son to work on my yard. The next thing I knew, the guy was talking about his RX-3, 13B this, and Bridge-port that. The next day, he came over with pictures of his sweet ride. I took out my photo album and talked shop all freakin day. The day after that, he brought his RX-3 over. That's it. It was all over for me. I was infected with "La- Fiebre", or "The Fever." as it's commonly known.

Last Christmas Eve, I somehow convinced my wife to let me go ahead and build the car I wanted since my teens - A widebody Turbo 1st Gen. That same day I found and bought a $400 GSL-SE for parts, and 30 days later I found my current GSL-SE.

A Shitload of time, effort, money, more time, more effort, and more money later, - and I am still not finished, but I am getting pretty close.;)

I consider myself pretty laid back, and love first gens because I feel like I know them inside and out with all the modification I've done to them throughout the years.
I am a smart ass, and I use my sinister sense of humor to keep others in check.

If you don't know by now, one of my pet peeves on the forum is the lack of the common sense by new members. Just use the search key and nobody has to get hurt. (see what I mean about my sick humor?)

Hi, my name's Mike, and I'm a 45 year-old self-employed electronic repairman. I was an Engineman in the Navy from 1975-1979, where I worked on Cummins diesel-powered emergency generators, and various auxiliary equipment. I was introduced to rotaries about 8-9 years ago via the '76 RX4 which was my daily driver up until about a year ago, when we put the old girl to sleep. I was recently given an '80 RX7 that had been sitting in the Kalifornia desert for 10 years. It belonged to my stepfather's sister, who bought it new in 1980.
Anyway, I've resurrected the '80 and am driving it daily while I continue to work on it. I'll be installing a GSL rearend soon, and I'm thinking of a 13B conversion when this old 12A finally bites the dust. I also have a nice '74 RX4 body that I'm going to build a motor for, I've already converted it from AT to MT, and cherried-out the interior. And, I have a '72 RX3 project car which is complete, but needs assembly. I know, I know...

Well every one can guess my name :) I chose not to use a nick name , I feel using your actual name is more personal. I have been interested in sevens for 10 years. I have been driving them for 5 years. I have done almost all of my maintenance except once. Learning experience. I am married , my wife Amanda has a liking for rotaries also. She did two college reports. One on Felix Wankel and one on the rotary engine. I own a 81 that was resurected after a 4 year moratorium and an 83 that was me first 7 but has given its service and has been a loving donor for my 81. Last year I bought a 87 TII but traded it for a Merc Villager. I perferred the FB to the FC. I have 2 kids Kris (3) and Kurt (newborn) . Kurt was born on my anniversery (Halloween). I have had some college and plan to return. But for know I am working a a mechanic in a third rate potato processing plant. I was a member of the "Big list" for many of years but moved to the forum. I enjoy the commodary and the easy going-ness of the forum to the mailing list.

As most of you should know by now, My name is Jeff Miller, I live in Kamloops, BC, Canada. I am a 17 year old grade 12 student. I have done ALL of the work on my car since I got it, which involves doing numerous engine, tranny, driveline, interior, suspension, and ignition and fuel problems. I don't think there's one part on my '79 GS that's been left alone for more than 2 years... I would love to get into autocross, but don't have the time or money, so maybe this summer I'll give it a shot somewhere... My 7 is de-commissioned right now, and it's engine is puffing a bit of smoke, so I think I'm going to rebuild it, and give it a good street port this spring....

I'm D'Arcy (pronounced Darcy - I can't think of anywhere in the English language where you pronounce an apostrophe, but people do it to me all the time)

Back in the early 90's I was a comics producer in California, meeting cool people like Alfredo Alcala (he drew the Conan comics in the 70s) Matt Groening (Simpsons) and Sergio Aragones (Groo The Wanderer) - closest I came to someone powerful was Barbara Bush, then wifey-wife of the Pres. She was actually pretty cool, strong on literacy (the campaign we were working on) and witty. (side note: George W. was apparently a bit of a brat when he was a kid)

I moved back to Canada about the time Marvel Comics was going bankrupt for the umpteenth time; served in the Canadian Forces as an electrical & mechanical engineer (glorified mechanic), including natural disaster relief and a UN 'peacekeeping' tour. Got to know which end of the rifle goes towards the shoulder, and which one goes bang, and had both positive and negative experiences that I may or may not bore you with at another time :)

Got into the film industry, and now write & direct low budget stuff out of both Hollywood, USA and Saskatoon, Canada as I work my way up that ladder.

I bought an '83 GSL 3 years ago as basic transportation for a few hundred bucks (after owning older Audis and Z cars) and fell in love with that simple, purist production sportscar. Her loud exhaust (cavalier muffler!) was a siren song 'only a parent could love' but the cockpit-like visibility and - well, connection was unlike anything I'd experienced with other cars. Her siren song was backed up with looks and moves to match, and I was a goner.

In winter the coolant line burst and bled out all the antifreeze at highway speeds; by the time I'd pulled over, she was dead.

This year I bought a 1985 GSL-SE in amazing condition. I tinkered a bit (exhaust, rims, K&N, swaybars, etc) and now have a car so nice she's in storage! (won't risk her to Winter). She's formerly been the daily driver of a celebrity, but I don't hold that against her :)

as a sideline I've begun to group various RX-7 devices made by forum members and other suppliers into one catalogue, and host them on one of my websites.

Nice to read everyone's story.....*newbies turn* Hello everyone.. this is a great way to introduce myself finally since I've registered a few months back due to the free time I have at work (but you didn't hear this from me) and I have been browsing on and off throughout the weekdays. I currently own two 1984 GSL-SE's, one of them is my " I will never ever sell baby", and the other is "hmm what part do I need to take?" car. I've also recently bought an 02 ricer piston car that looks like an egg but it gets 30mpg!! =)... but I doubt anyone cares to hear about it.

I've own my Red princess since Sept.96 my 2nd yr into college. I bought it off my Bro-in-laws- best friend for a very nice price. The Pacific body kit on it was more than the car itself at the time. The car has been to the body shop a few times and has a few paint jobs, 2 to be exact due to unfortunate accidents. I have never thought of selling it even when it was in pretty bad shape. I've never quit on her. I will post pics of them maybe tomorrow when I get some time. The car has left me stranded only once in her life. The original engine busted a coolant seal on my way to school, an uphill, and I was forced to tow it home 25 miles. That was in early Jan 2001, bought a crappy rebuild from Mazdarecyclingin Feb-01 that last less than 17000 miles ( SO DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!) which leads me to the spare SE which I have it's engine stuffed into my pricess right now during the last Labor Day. Curently it's running pretty good, but a bit slower due to the damn stereo system I have in it with custom MDF box.

Ok now for the "how did I get here" part. Back when I first got my car, I got my first computer too. Yeah I wasn't really up to date I guess. I began looking for more knowledge about the Rotary using the internet. I got onto the "big list", asked around to see if there were local rotorheads like myself here in LA,CA. Low and behold LA is the Capital of Rotaries. Our first meeting was at a local park, Frank Bonelli, for a BBQ get-together, about 13 Rotaries showed up. That day was eventually destined to become SevenStock ONE-May'96 IIRC.

Anyways to cut the story short, I've just graduated last year, working now and I am beginning to ponder the future transformation of my Princess into a BEAST. She has Berny H's T FB to look up to. =). I am currently very involved with The SoCal7's Club. I am one of it's Associate Directors, with Berny H as our lead spokesperson AKA Exec Director, Meaning= WE keep his ass on CHECK!

Well I guess that pretty much sums it up. I'm looking forward to learning much more about Rotaries from everyone here. I've done pretty much done everything on the car short of buying the rebuild kit to redo that busted coolant seal. Ohh yeah I guess I should brag about my car a bit.. rather than list it.. its here

Well ... I guess that makes me next.

My name is Jason. I'm 29 years old. I'm from the Bronx. I'm in a state of transition/transformation right now. I don't know how personal I should get here, so I'll skirt the general details and if you're interested in more, then I'll say it. Fair enough?

I'm about to start a second Bachelor's degree because my first one seems to have failed me miserably. My advice to anyone out there that wants to major in Biology ... make sure you know someone, somewhere - BEFORE you graduate. I'm about to study nursing!

I got bit by the bug in Ocotber of 1987. My brother bought a crashed '83 GSL and did a front clip on it. I go to drive the following summer. That was it for me!!!! I spent the next 2 and half years absorbing as much info as I could, until I bought my first Rx-7 in December of 1990. It was a black '82 (burgundy leather with a back seat)! It got stolen 3 months later because that was during the time that Mazda were all over Hunts Point and the others racing spots of NYC (before the Hondas came!)

Anyway ... I bought a silver '81 S with the insurance money. I drove that for a year, and then I bought a blue '83 S (with SE suspension, RB sway bars, etc.). My plan was to make race car out of my '81. My dad had different plans! I had to sell it! :(

I really came into my own during the 7+ years I owned that '83 (named, Rocko) - that's where I really learned to drive (good car control) ... and of course, I also learned to work on an Rx-7! I swapped about 6 motors, built 2, swapped 1 rear, 2 trannies. That car hurt many people's feelings! (Even bridgeports!) I can strip and rebuild an Rx-7 in a regular garage, with basic hand tools. I love them! I breathe them! I have other car interests, but I feel that I must have one now at all times, no matter what.

I had a circle of friends that we all had 7's! We built race cars, and street cars. I got a fairly decent reputation for my knowledge and technical work. It may not be much, but I'm proud of it.

I bought an MR2 Turbo in '98 and was contemplating resurrecting my '83 from the dead, but again I was forced to get rid of it. After I scrapped the '83 in '99, I swore not to get another Rx-7 until I had enough money to build my dream Rx-7. Well, as luck would have it ... I got laid off in 2001 and moved back to NYC (from Seattle). I was looking for something cheap and reliable, and I wanted a VW GTI (MkI or MkII). I searched for months and found nothing affordable or in good enough condition. I happened to find www.thepartstrader.com and came across an '84 GS and I felt the fire stir. It started as "oh, I'll just look at it for the hell of it, but I won't buy it." The following Wednesday I was at the bank withdrawing the money.

It needed engine work because the guy had overheated it, and I knew I was on borrowed time. The car could barely get out of it's own way. Well ... after 3 months, the stock 12A coughed one last time. It sat in the basement at my job (at the time) for about 7 months, then I bought a 13B and installed it with my Dell'Orto. I got laid off ... and finally moved to Florida where as I said, I'm going back to school.

It will be slow, but I'm going to give the Rx-7 dream one more try.

Oh and, I couldn't have gotten this far without help from my brother, Danny, and my friends Steve, Shorty and T-Bone! Big Up!!!! :D

I pretty much agree with you here buddy! I have a Micro/Med Tech & minor in Chem and it has failed me also. I have a few friends that will say the same dang thing. Rule #178 Don't do it b/c you like it unless you are willing to accept the pathetic paychecks. Rule #179 It's all about the $$ baby! Rule #180 Get a new job so your REX's can get fixed up with more goodies.

College is not about learning ... it's about knowing people and I didn't realize that 'til after I graduated and started getting rejected from science positions, only to find they hired a chick that worked on Alaska fishing boats (oh and did I mention her dad knew one of the doctors that ran the lab?) :mad:

Hello my name is Cameron Setzepfandt (hence the strange forum name setzep). Been into Rx-7's since 1986 when my neighbor brought home his black 81-83 (can't remember the exact year) FB :drool: I just knew when I was old enough to get one I'd have one. So when I turned 16 I got my first 7, a damn near mint 87 sport with 63k on it. Then I got real and sold it for a 85 GS ;). All I did to that car was a carb rebuild, man I learned a lot from that at the time. I was stupid and sold that car when winter came:( Next was a steal, 90GXL for $3700, drove it ~ 1000 miles then sold it for $5200 :cool: . After that was my 84 -se, fun car but it came from florida and with that came a fugly burgundy interior that was faded all to hell. On top of that nothing worked inside the car, well the power window on the drivers side worked. Sold. Then went a few years with out a 7 :cry: Found this forum back in oct of 2000 and the idea of a turbo FB poped into my head :) Found a -se parts car for 275 bucks that was complete rust free but rolled over :(. Bought that. Bought a 85 S model, found out all about the storage bin rust on that car. Sold. Then found my current 83 GS that I'm doing my Turbo FB project on.

yeah ... i was when i first started. that was the plan before i even started high school. i didn't do too bad on the MCAT either, but it seems that for 3.0 student, you need to have some research/lab experience to have a real shot at getting into medical school. i spent about 6 years after graduation trying to get that experience ...

Well, my name is Brandon, I'm 22, and in my third year as an electrical engineering major. I plan on going the distance in my schooling (MS for sure PhD is still a strong canidate, if I can last that long) I'm single, and with this hobby probably will be for quite some time ;)

My nickname came about as my friends jokingly gave me the nickname fatty, at the time I was 15, 5'10" and 135lbs. far from fat, but for some reason I liked it and it stuck. I like to learn, and so this forum is a godsend when it comes to rotary info. I am sometimes a know-it-all, but I'm always willing to learn.... I just grew up with a lawyer as a father, that means I learned fast to think logically, and defend myslef when I feel like I know what I'm talking about.

I have had an interest in rotaries for a couple of years, The nature of the rotary is interesting. A bout a year ago, after living two years in russia, I came home to find that my parents hadn't sold my 85 Bronco II that I had rebuilt, lifted and painted when I was 17, even though I was tired of it ,well most of it... I regret having not droped a big V8 into it, and after 6g's It made me I'll that It struggled with 70mph on the highway up hill.

Anyway, I started looking into cars that I could buy and modify. I started looking at SN95 mustang GTs and Cobras, but the cost combined with unoriginality and crapy feel, I broadened my search for a smaller, tigher car, that was cheaper, but still had lots of potential. AAfter peeking into getting a Neon, and turbocharging it, and a civic and dropping a b18 into it, I was at a loss, neons weren't very fun to drive. At high revs the engine sounded like it was stressed, and Civics around here are way overpriced and rare, I was about to abandon the hopes of finding my next project when I ran into a clean sunrise-red 85 GS. It was love at first drive.... I knew the moment I downshifted into third on a winding mountain road, That I was sold. As for potential,I could easily afford, not only this sweet and unique car, but that for the 8-9k that I planned on the car+project, I could give this thing the power and suspension it so deserves. My TII swap is building up, but I still have a long way to go. I love this car, it has timeless lines, and a great personality. This forum is great, I've learned alot, thanks

My names TJ (short for Todd Jay) and I have been around cars and motorcycles all my life. I gained a knowledge of mechanical things at a young age and have been kinda hooked on anything I could take apart and/or lear how it worked. I built go carts by myself when I was in my early teens (13-14) and was racing dirtbikes by my middle teens (still ride as a hobby) and also played hockey part time. I found out that motorcycles, cars, and anything else with wheels was my passion. I used to work on anything an everything, as I have knowledge in everything from jet engines (grandpa and other family memebers worked for boeing, spent lots of time in the mechanics depot) to blenders. I love to work with tools and fabricate things myself. I consider myself to be a good problem solver and a quick learner. I have an official IQ result of 142 (not bragging, just telling ;)), and I hated school. I dropped out halfway thourgh my senior year because I was so far behind I would have had to repeat it two more times. I got my GED EASILY and had a job for about two months before I quit because I was severly allergic to some crap we used there. Since then I have been jobless and moneyless, lol. I love my car and have built most things on it. I have turned just about every nut or bolt on her (some more than others) and have plenty of love and affection for her. Basically, Im here to learn as much as I can, and meet some cool people while Im at it. I feel that you guys are like my advisors on some things, and my friends on others. I appreciate you all being here and helping me along the way.

Oh yeah, and Im a converted rotorhead. I didnt like my Dads GSL-SE when he first got it (a little more that a year and a half ago, never even heard or a rotary until then), because I had never seen it, and he described it as a "240ZX looking car". As soon as I saw it I loved the looks of it, but didnt like the idea of such a small engine. All my life I wanted a 1985 Toyota 4x4 (still do ;) and know just about anything about those puppies too. After I read and learned more about the rotary, I feel in love and wanted one for myself as I saw the potential and ease of design. Anyway, my Dad bought me one form a junk yard with a froze up engine, and over the course of the last year, I have been slowly bringing her back to the road. She finally here, and still a work in progress :).

I have a passion for RX-7's. I feel a sort of family tie to anyone else who drives one.

My main passions in life, in this order, are: Dancing, RX-7's, Computers, Girls (sometiems this moves up on the list, actually, its usually right up there...), and occasionally mountain biking. (none of my ridnig buddies ever call me. So my 3 thousand dollar bike is going to waste!)

I break dance, hip hop dance, and rave dance. I love techno, the music in and of itself acts as a drug to me when i'm dancing, and am a very small time producer (mainly trancey type stuff). I also love hip hop and rap. Despite what one might think, break dancing doesnt get you chicks :-(

I have no clue what i want to do with my life. I'm 19 this coming January, no idea where to go to college or what to study. alls i know is everyone tells me college is the right place. I am thinking anywhere from computer design, industrial design (i'm thinking car body kit designing), performance car maintenance, i have no clue. Not a single idea.

I got my first car from my dad, who i kinda weasled him into giving it to me. It was an 85 GS, which he had painted metallic flake black. Completely stock, never driven hard (my dad doesnt drive cars fast). Didnt appreciate it for what it was, until my friend (always loved sports cars, he did), says one day going home from school "hey geoff, lemme drive it".

Well, i had never been in a car where someone went fast in it. He floored it, i grabbed the passenger handle and freaked out. The rush of adrenaline and fear and excitement all at once, made me a believer.

Since then, i have partaken an everlasting quest to learn all there is about rotaries. In two years, i have barely skimmed the surface, as the internet is my sole source for knowledge.

I seem to have a hard time making or keeping friends, so all the rx7 ppl i have met around here dont talk to me. (dont konw why).

I sold the GS, for a GSL-SE, mint condition, w/ 16" rims on it. This is my project baby. She is my love, my passion, my show car, my race car, my dream car. I think i've accomplished a lot, in that i'm 19 years old (on January 13th!) and have my dream car.

Rotaries calm me down. I can just drive around town for hours and be completely happy. They make me forget about how some people so blindly hate, cause she is always there for me. Nothing will change my bond to my car. My worst fear is something happening to my car.

I am always looking to make new friends, especially ones who drive RX-7's. I classify myself a performance car enthusiast, who likes to make his car look as good as it performs. My motto is: Why have a car that looks like shit and goes fast, when you can have a car that looks amazing and goes fast!?

My plans are on hold for my car right now, as recent events have left me unemployed w/ my unkind employers. Until i get a new job, I do what i can.

Anyway, I typed total of 73 bad words; 41 of which were the "F" word or derivitives of it, and mostly directed towards people. So I kinda feel like I'm a major reason for this thread, and just wanted to appologize to you all (Yeah, even 680:p: ) for adding to the bad side of this room, but also to Ken for making him feel like he had to work a bit harder to pull this all back in order.
But ya know, when a family member throws the bowl of mashed potatoes at someone during an arguement at Thanksgiving dinner, it somehow strangley brings the family closer together for Christmas!:D

Anyway, I'm 34, I'm a jeweler and knife maker, and I love anything with moving parts! I make silver boxes with hidden locking multiple hinges of my own design but never get paid enough.
I'm working on designs and junkyard parts collection for my Eaton M-90 supercharged stockport (later bridgeport) 85 GS.
During the winter I'll fab parts I need on my new toy- a milling machine (Whoo-hoo!!!), and in the spring I'll take my best engine out of the shed and mount it on a frame and begin building my "Sterlingcharger" project, as Etherhuffer has dubbed it.

I love the rotary for it's simplicity, even though I love mechanical things. It's sort of paradoxal because usually the more parts a machine has, the more I like it!
And I love a good custom project. I can never leave anything alone! I get anything new, and I immediately want to customize it somehow. I can't help it.

I'm worried, though- about my project. I have mega plans for customizing both of my Rx-7s, and getting a third as well. But I have a baby coming in April, and I'd just HATE like hell to have my cars turn into the typical "project in progress" for years. This was indeed the situation with my second RX-7 before I bought it. The guy had every intention- even used to race. But he had a family, and the cars sat for years.:(

Ya'll help to keep that from happening to me, right?

Hi everyone. This is Omid. some of you know me as bcrx7. I am 23 and just finished my Electrical Engineering Degree this month. I live in Vancouver, British Columbia (up in Canada and no it's not snowing here yet). I will start working at a local company as a Junior Engineer beginning of January and hoping to start my Masters coming September. I have had my 1984 GSL-SE for 3 and half years now.

Being an engineer, I am always into finding ways to improve the cars looks and performance. I've started racing last year and I am hooked for life.

Currently the car is going under extensive modifications. I am waiting for the suspension which is GC Coilovers, Cam.Cas. Plates, Swaybar, and etc. The engine which is all apart and will go together soon is a 1984 13B block with new rotor housings, 3mm carbon seal + race springs. 93 corner springs. 93 oil press. regulator. Extended porting. Custom SS exhaust with long primaries. Custom SS intake made for 2extra injectors. MegaSquirt fuel computer. GTU style widebody fenders and airdam. 6pts. custom-made roll-cage. REAL CarbonFibre dash :D

My name is Jeff and I feel so old compared to the rest of you. I am 41 yrs old and I am an optometrist. I started practice in the Navy 14 yrs ago and stayed for 8 yrs. ow I work at a HMO. I am new to the RX7 scene. I had always wanted a Rx7(1st Generation) body style but was never be able to find one that fits my taste. About one month ago, I found a 85gslse for sale in autotrader.com. It was too good to be true when I read the ad. The seller was asking for 3K and it only had 65,000 original miles and was listed as in mint condition. I went to meet him and I was shocked at the condition. I offered him $3,300. and its mine! Since I got the car, I changed alll the fluids, replaced all the plugs, wires, brake pads, all the bushings on the sway bars, tension rods and the slave cylinder. I have been reading a lot on this car and gain tremendous knowledge through this board. I think it is very nice for other rx7 owners to share their experiences with individuals like myself who has very limited knowledge on Rx7s' I am thinking of replacing the shocks and may be the springs in the near future. I love to replace the current exhaust system with the RB setup, but I live in CA and those smog Nazi will never let me pass the smog test. I thank everyone on this board for sharing information and look forward someday to contribute something myself.

I drive a 82 RX-7, that is pretty much stock, except for the performance clutch that I put in and the KN air filter. I hope to move up to a street port or smallish bridge port when the funds come in. But with an education that costs more than Harvard, that won't be too soon.

I've been lurking around here for a year now, post only when I can add something (rarely), and can proudly say I never asked a retarded question like "I must find this body kit, it is the best thing in the world."

Ok, Mike, became a rotor head in the late '60s, from a "Poplar Mechanics or Science" (?) magazine about the engine and then the Mercedes C-111 car. I have only owned 4 new cars in my life; '73 RX-3 Stationwagon, '74 RX-4 Stationwagon, '79 GLC Sport, '82 RX-7 S.

Formal training in electronics and did electronic and computer repair for 15 years. Self employed since '87 and I've done all manner of activities from light construction, plumbing, electrical, computer wiring, and automotive repair. Motorsports has always been my prefered activity. Did "pit crew" duties for 3 years until '76 when I built and raced my 1st "circle track" car. Began autocrossing in '77 and have since been involved in ALL SCCA club activities, Solo II & RoadRally Safety Steward, National F & C license, etc. and currently helping to start the local RallyCross program. I have driven approx. 400 solo events in RX-7s and have well over 1 million street miles, ALL 1st Gens. I may have been the first person in the country to use the "R" compound DOT tires that revolutionized autocrossing, writing the letter to SCCA for approval of the YOKOHAMA A001R in early '83.

I have "owned" ~40~ 1st Gens during the past 20 years and do my best to restore / repair, and keep on the street, as many as possible. Currently I have 9 including 4 without titles being kept for various race cars (If I EVER get the time and money at the same time!). Although I work on almost any car, I have several RX-7 customers I keep happy. When circumstances allow I buy "7"s for restoration or parts, and when I get one done I pass it along, selling the "good" ones and driving the "bad" ones myself (Girlfriends don't understand that!). Very occasionally I sell excess parts.

Still a "newbie" on the forum. No excuse except not having my own computer untill 3 years ago. Glad to be here now, and have stop debating religion with "yzf-r1"!!

Well... let me rescue you, Jeff! Hello, my name is Ron and I'm 56 yrs old.... There, you should feel considerably better now! Matter of fact, after reading this forum for a month before joining, I saw that I was sooo much older than most here that my user name should be "T-Rex". But... someone else already had it.

Anyway, where to start... I was a gooood kid... lol. No, actually I was. At age 17, I tore down two Ford flathead V-8's and built one good one out of the best parts. And it started on the first crank! Graduated from HS with a 3.54 GPA, Member National Honor Society, blah blah blah. Went off to college (Mich Tech Univ) at age 19 in 1965 to become a Thermal Nuclear Engineer. Discovered snow skiing and "parrr-tee" at age 20 and was a total drunk by age 21 :( But, boy could I ski! College went down the tubes, got a job as a lap tech and assistant to an ink chemist at a printing company. Uncle Sam came "sniffing" around for the draft, so I ran out and joined the Air Force in 1968 and became an Aircraft Crew Chief.

I went to Vietnam in '69; Thailand after that; and the Philippines after that. I loved Southeast Asia! After coming back from the 'nam, I got kinda involved with the biker scene in So Cal and tried being a bad assed biker by night and an Air Force Sergeant by day. That didn't work out so well... Got orders for Thailand and that probably saved my young ass!

Met and married my wife, Noi, in Thailand and am still married to her (28 years now). I stayed in the Air Force for 20-yrs, retiring in 1988. Got a job as a Senior Computer Analyst at Rockwell International which lasted 3 years before getting laid off when Congress pulled the rug out from under aerospace. Found, that without a degree, I was unemployable outside aerospace and... aerospace wasn't hiring.

Bought a "big truck" and became a self employed owner/operator in '91. Scary!... but it was a good move. Now my wife and I have been touring the Continental 48 for 11 years. Check my website

I saw my first RX-7 in 1979 and fell in love with it without even knowing what it was. Bought my first one new in '82 (a GS, I think) and traded it for a new GSL-SE in 1984. Which I still have and drive daily! Never had any troubles with it and finally had to put a clutch in it 2-yrs ago. It only has 78k original miles on it. Since they quit making the RX-7 in 1985 (that's my opinion), I never bought another one. As a matter of fact, I never bought any other car. The Rex is the only car I've owned since 1984! I have 8x10 framed glossy's of that car that I took in 1985, and they're still hanging on my wall. I love that car, or couldn't ya tell!

It got rained on, hailed on, zapped by the West Texas sun, shit on by the dust storms, and froze by the occasional ice and snow storms we get. But it kept on keeping on. One of the hail storms dented it up pretty good. Finally, I decided it was time for a face lift and took it to Rick's Custom Shop here in Abilene, where he worked his magic on it. Then I replaced all the door and window seals and every other rubber or plastic piece that showed wear. The old girl looks good and when I drive it down the street - all the young dudes drool. And remembering what it was like to be young, I say "Eat'cher heart out kid. It's mine..."

I'm a senior in high school, i've just finished applying to RIT, Lehigh and Renssalaer for mechanical engineering. I bought my first car when i turned 16, my 70 Chevelle, which i have been pouring money and time into since i bought it. My parents didnt buy me shit, i pay for everything, gas, parts, insurance... the whole deal.

I bought my RX7 2 months ago, for $300, it came with 2 12a's and a completely dissassembled interior, and a bunch of other parts in pieces. I towed it home, and put it back together, including putting the motor in by myself at 12:45 one night after work, alone, with a comealong from the beams in my garage. As of yesterday, the car started for the first time by pouring gas down the carb. The carb seems to need a rebuild, but since i dont want to rebuild it, i'm trying to upgrade to a 48 dhla and write that off as a christmas present. I installed a stereo in the car, consisting of a Blaupunkt headunit, a 75wRMSx4 amp, and infinity Kappa 4" in front and 6x9" in boxes in the back... i go for sound clarity and quality over bass, even though those 6x9;s kick pretty hard in that tiny ass car.

once i get the rex running, and reliable, i'm gonna start to learn how to really drive, as in... autocross. I have a friend whose father is a Porsche autoX instructor, so i can get free admission to them and lessons on the side, so i'm looking forward to that. I love my rex already and i've never driven it. I am used to driving huge cars... 1970 Chevelle, 97 Towncar, 01 Suburban and a 53 Merc one ton truck. However, i learned how to drive stick in an altima, and frequently drive a friends 94 civic hatch.

I went to the same Univ. that Zookeeper went to though I'm quite a bit younger ;). Hi, my name is Mike. I'm 27yrs old (just past a quarter century). My background is in electronics....two years of vocational school during my high school was spent in electronics certification, then Michigan Technological University or MTU for short accepted me and I now have an Electrical Engineering Technology degree and an Electromechanical Engineering Technology degree which are both only 2yr degrees. I am also 15 credits short of a BS in EET but since I'm paying for everything myself I'm taking time off while I pay down my bills.

During my time off since '98 I've worked at Southeast Missour Mental Health Center as a Client Aid Trainee, MobileCom of St. Louis as a Systems Technician (they were bought out by Arch while I was there), Vectech Pharmaceutical Consultants of Farmington Hills, MI, as an Electrical Engineering Technician, Farmington Correctional Center in Farmington, MO, as a Corrections Officer (where I found that I had more problems with the staff than with the inmates!), and currently with Southeast Missouri Community Treatment Center where I am a Technical Support Specialist in the MIS department (which only has 3 members). I also run an internet based computer business from http://www.milisake.com but I have changed the web format so much that I really need to work on it lately as I have nothing posted that really shows I'm a business anymore. I've been into computers since the Apple II, TRS-80, Commodore 64 and have been building, tearing down, and troubleshooting computers since the IBM 8088 so you could say I'm a hardware guy and if you ever have computer questions feel free to pm or email me.

Lets see. I bought my first 7 last year and overpaid for it. I was just excited I had found one and had my tax refund in hand. Very bad combination as some have read about this 7 I am mentioning and the problems I have found with it. It is an '82 GSL and has rust in all the wrong places so it is becoming a donor car. I also have an '82 GSL parts car that is almost stripped now, just have to remove the front end stuff that is still on it, and an '83 GSL that I recently picked up with an almost perfect body that is in the garage while I put its interior back together and swap the oil leaky engine out of it for the engine in the rust '82. I also own a Neon, which I thoroughly enjoy driving too. It is a '96 Highline with a SOHC engine and auto tranny. To me it is zippy and has a somewhat tight suspension compared to other cars that I've owned in the past (Shadow, Daytona, Tempo, Chevette). Once I get the '83 GSL on the road it will be my daily driver except for the winter and the Neon will be my wife's daily. I have tons of things in mind for the 7 and my wife has things she'd like to do to the Neon but since this isn't a neon board (neons.org) then I won't go into detail on that.

I will start AutoX in St. Louis this spring. I pitcrew for Team Scuderia at the new I-55 Raceway kart track, and I volunteer for marshalling in ProRally (and ClubRally) events. Lake Superior Pro Rally when I was at Tech, and now 100 Acre Woods ClubRally in Salem while I'm down here.

BTW for those still deciding what to do in college and whether you'll have a job when you get out. It has really become who you know more than what you know unfortunately. It does not matter what degree you look into. So network with people every chance you get.

My name's Michael, I'm 40 years old, I've worked as machine operator for several companys and auto mechanic at couple others. Recently been working as machinist and currently with a company as CNC setup/operator. So I basically have enough knowledge and experience to do any kinda fabrications that I may need to do to make anything work, like the tranny mod I had to do to make an '83 rx7 tranny fit my car without havint to cut the floor, worked the very first time. I've been in rotarys since the late 80's after a friend had a '74 rx4 with the original engine ported and built by Roger Mandeville. I've never owned an rx7, my interests have always been the old school rotarys. My first was a '74 rx4 that a friend of a friend had for sale and my wife decided she'd get it for me for my birthday. Drove it for quite some time before wrecking it, so I was determined to find another to replace it with. That's when I found a '73 rx3 in a local junk yard. Rebuilt what was needed to get it road worthy, and drove it for several years. Then traded it to that friend for his 4 after he ran it hot and gave up on it. Got the 4 back running and drove it a short period when I ran across the '75 808 I currently own now. Only drove it one time before parking it for a rotary transplant. It currently has an '83 engine and tranny in it, had to modify the tranny and move the shifter back up approx. 4" so not to have to cut the floor. The ported 13b from the rx4 is currently awaiting another rebuild and to be put in the 808. A pic of it is in my sig and others are at my web site.

Hi im George and im a rex-a-holic since i was little and im proud of it, i was born and raise in Puerto Rico but now i live in Evans Mills NY and im 21 years old. i worked as a mecainc helper and learner for five years while i was in school and i being working with waste manegment as a truck driver for almost two years and i quit for two weeks and came back again. i had 2 rx7 in my life, hopefully get more, but my first one was a black 85 gsl with a 12a automatic, 48 side shaft weber carb, bonez cat with a 2.25 inch exhaust with a dynomax muffler, 1990 mustang 5 spoke wheels and sold it in parts because of rust problem and my current rx7 is a 84 silver gslse with a stock gslse 13b engine, stock S4 turbo, tII intake manifold 4x 680cc injectors and the rest is in the signature, hopefully i get it running for next summer and for the winter and when im not using my rx7, i have a 2000 suzuki esteem, well my mom's car. but i dont use it alot :D but hopefully im gonna get a beater for the rest of the winter. :D thanks and happy hollydays everybody

I think I win the Old Fossil award: I'm 65. I've got an 83GS that I bought new when I first spied that Misty Blue beauty on the lot. It looks as good now as it did then (always covered) and with the new shocks, brakes, transmission and cooling system I put in this year, it runs just as good, too! 110k on the meter. I also have a silver 85GSL that I bought this summer with only 49k on the meter. Bought it to drive while working on the 83 (you wouldn't expect me to drive something else, would you?) A little body work and a paint job and it'll be like new, though I have to take a little out of the driver cushion to suit my 6'2" height better. They look good together standing in the driveway with plates "NO VALVE" and "NO PISTN".

I've worked on cars since I was 15 and owned sports cars since I was 21 and bought a new 59 sprite (with my grad school stipend!). Put a Judson blower on that sprite and it was a zinger!

I usually own a sports car and a sedan, and my wife would like us to have a pickup, so I tell her the 83 is a lumber truck (with the lid off I can stick a lot of 2x4s out thru the top) and the 85 is a sedan (smoooth ride, electric windows, leather seats).

I love rotary engine's and will own a rotary powered vehicle until I die. I am planning on the AirForce within the next 3 months. It will give me money for my TurboFB project and my future FD. Plus I'm going to Florida and I can ride my bike year around WWWEEEEHOOOOOOOO!!!!! My parents are loving and have always been suportive of my interests and hobbies; though I think they were worried when I got a rotor tattooed on my forearm.

Hi all....my name is Ammar, my 1st car was an 82 GSL 16 yrs ago, and Ive been an adict since then! I had countless motors in it from n/a to squeeze, then finally sacked up and got a turbo! In '91 my car ran mid 12's on radials (which out in LA was allright) I made lots of money with the car and LOVED it. To make a long story short, I got sick of working on it (cause it was my only transport) so I sold it to a friend and he put the motor in a sand rail in '95 Rail still runs STRONG with my motor in it! But my blood was still crying for a rotary fix, so I bought myself a 510 that was converted in to a turbo rotary by the "RotaryShack.com" since then Ive redone quite a few things, I rewired the car, fuel injected it, put a jerico in it and a 76mm bb innovative turbo. The car made 390 at the wheels at 15lbs, Im in the midst of "pinning" the motor to allow my 30lb goal to make appx 500-550 at the wheels. How and Dee....mein Nahme ist Mario Aguirre III...:p: ..sorry, just getting ready for Dubya's new Nation....not quite a Fossil but crossing that boundary next year when I go 40 :p: ....grad from Bowie High, top 5% in a graduating class of 600+ (proper TX size..:D..)... w/ GPA 3.60, Nat'l Honors Society, BS in Biology (that pretty much says it all for that degree...), Premed route, Dean's List a couple of times....even with a 3.2 GPA and being Hispanic, I couldn't get in where I wanted, so there goes that degree, that and starting pay at $27,000 wouldn't cut it when beginning pay for UPS drivers is $32,000 with all the OT...stayed with the evil UPS for 17 years before they started firing me repeatedly while I was the Union Steward for the Arlington Ctr, buddy got me on at SBC right before they stopped all outside hiring...Artist, CarAudio Installer and Gearhead...been playing with RX-7s since my first '79 S, been messing with cars, though, since '81 in those glorious days of my '68 Fbird's street terror reign... I picked up the '79 RX-7 in '89..put a couple of JAP used engines (I swear that's the real name of their shop and yes a bunch of Japanese run it....) in it before dumping it for a nice '79 S with a troubled engine. The Rotary Performance big streetport went in it in '94 ('95?..I'm at work, right now...)...totaled that puppy, got the '80 and dumped the streetport in it...that car met its demise in May of this year...The Gory Details of One Week of Bliss then Hell on Earth...these dayz, I've got this nice '84 but I don't like the squarish dash, so I found a cherry '83 which will become my next Ulti-Rex, the third home for the RP streetport which still only has 28,000 miles since leaving Ari's shop...like Iotus, I never left the dance scene since the original techno days and MC 900 ft. Jesus, but I personally get along (well, most of the time, anyways...:p: ) with people...was Republican straight and true until it drifted too far right and started legislating morality...Independent now...OK, stop snoring, I'll stop already...no, the Weds are not for sale.....;) :cool:

My name is Steve and I am 24 years old and live in Sydney Australia.

My first exposure to rotaries was at the local drag strip around 1994-95, watching local workshop cars run low 10s and eventually 9s in these loud buzz boxes! At the time I had a 81 Toyota Corolla that I was trying as hard as possible to thrash into the ground!

I got hooked on rotors when a local RX2 called GRUMPE broke into the Sydney scene and set it alight! It was running 11.2s in the mid 90s on a 13B BP with a weber and a spray of gas! I bought an RX2 sedan in late 1997. It had a 12A street port and a 48IDA weber. It had a nice interior and was great to drive around. It did a best of 14.4 on 13 inch street tyres!

It was around the start of 98 that I met HITman and my knowledge on all things cars grew exponetially! When I found out about this 3 rotor 1st gen, I was awe struck and we have been good friends ever since! I am actually writing this from his place as me and my girl are house sitting for him while he is in the US and Canada!

I got my 85 1st gen in late 98. The RX2 had spun a bearing and I didn't have the cash to do anything with it. But circumstances changed and I happened upon an immaculate RX7 with a fresh T2 engine, Haltech F9 and a built auto! I snapped it up and its been downhill from there! :p I initially had no intention of turning the RX7 into what it is today, it just sort of happened that way! Once again, circumstance! I just wanted a tough RX7 with decent looks but plenty of go! I think I achieved my goal :p

My station in life at the moment is working for a large cell phone carrier and doing call centre routing. When you press 1 for accounts and then you go on hold with my company, you go to the queue and hear the music I want you to (In a really small nutshell thats what I do) :p I am very keen to get into the call centre industry in the US, so if anyone knows someone, I am interested! I am a certified Genesys Routing Proffesional and also have vast experience with Rockwell ACDs! Drop me a PM ;)

My strength is how to get a first gen to go quick in a straight line! lol! Seriously though, if anyone has ANY question about your 1st gen, I am happy to have a go at answering, if I can't help you, I will be able to point you in the right direction!

Steve, I am about to embark on an experiment. Perhaps you can provide me with some knowledge. I am well versed in 1st Gens (21 years) and have been a "rotor head" for over 30. I have over 400 autocross events so I know all the answers about NOT doing what I want to try. Any chance you can help with this??

Well my name is Mike, im 31. I worked as a installation technician (car stereo) for over 12 years. I have worked on so many cars I couldnt begin to name them all. I now work for Toyota Motor Manufacturing in the Assembly shop, building new Sequoia's, Sienna's, and Tundra's. (I have a real job now LOL)

I have owned Rx-7's since I was 16, I had a 80 Rx-7 that I drove all the way up to 386,000 miles, I totalled it twice, and fixed it both times. I have rebuilt several rotaries for friends, and tinkered with them forever...Theres probally not one bolt on a 7 I havent turned... My latest monstrosity is my 85 GS, id an incredible money pit. But its been fun, well else can you spend 12k, and go wasting new cars costing 2X-3X as much :) Whenever Im not driving that Im driving my 88 convertible. I had to have a convertible, and it had to be a 7 , anyways, when I get bored with it I drive my 95 FD (oh its time to wake up now oh well, sorry I got lost)

Raised in the woods near a small town in lower western Michigan.
eerie - I'm the 3rd to post my attendance to MTU, THE ONLY CAMPUS IN THE USA WITH A PLAQUE COMMEMORATING THE ONLY COLLEGE PRO-WAR MARCH DURING VIETNAM. I lasted one year. Learned snowboarding, hackeysack, and depression but no engineering. Also wasted some time at Grand Rapids Community College.
Went from flipping burgers to factory work, then to CNC machines, Computer Aided Design and Coordinate Measuring Machines. Now I work in the CMM department of a medium auto parts manufacturer. I inspect our products, mostly grilles and exterior trim pieces for all Dodge trucks, Volvo trucks and cars, some Fords, some Jaguars, and some Mazdas.

In spring of 1999, before marrying my soulmate, I wanted a sports car. I really liked the low cost and looks of the 1st generation RX-7. I test drove a few clunkers before finding a near-mint Tender Blue '85 GS for sale by original owner. 70,000 miles and only a little rust where he had screwed on mud flaps. He was asking $3000, I handed him $2000 and he signed the title. I didn't mind not having a working gas gage at first, or the extremely crappy tires, just because it was an absolute joy to drive. I only stranded myself once and spun out once. Well, twice.
Then one day, after the first snow, I was going to drive it to my parent's house for storage. The previous day I had started it up, moved it from one parking space to another, and shut it off. Now it was "dead", and I though I had killed it, being ignorant of the rotary flooding problem. It sat for one year in that parking lot, while i sacrificed fixing it and many other things in preparation for buying our first house, with my first garage.
After I had it safely in the garage, at work I discovered this new invention called the "Internet". I posted on The Parts Trader that I needed a rust-free gas tank, and lo and behold a complete stranger called me and gave me a free tank off a rolled parts car. He also had a cherry True Red '90 GTU for sale that ran like a bat out of hell, which I foolishly bought instead of fixing up my GS.

After a summer dealing with the multiple common problems of the FC, I talked to my friend again and learned that he was giving away one of his old project cars, an 82 GSL, in favor of a widebody car he picked up. So he lent me a truck and a trailer and soon enough I had an almost stripped red shell, with an 84/85 12a shortblock & wiring harness (WTF?), an ancient RB roadrace header, and no front fenders, nose, hood, or headlights. There's holes in the roof from the missing targa band, holes in the rear deck for a 3pc spoiler, and somebody repaired the sunroof-mount rust with bondo, but it's my project car now.

My wife was less than thrilled, but "It if makes you happy..." Her hobby is belly-dancing, which I don't complain about.

Picked up an 82 S parts car this spring, $160 with free delivery. 220,000 miles, dead 12a 5spd, a beat-to-hell front airdam, a dulled Mazda targa bad, and an off-color 3pc spoiler. Oh, and gold mesh 14" wheels in rough shape.

Now life is good. Wife's got an '02 Protege5, and of the 5 Mazdas on our tiny suburban plot it's the only one that runs now that an oil seal failure has doomed the GTU. I'm making money and spending it on tools, teaching myself how to build a car as I go. I'm teaming up with Manntis to design and build new great aftermarket products for these wonderful cars, and who knows what we'll think up next. And best of all, I've got an online community to support and be supported by.

Hey Everyone, figure its my turn heh. My name is Shane I am 20 years old and I have owned a rex for almost a year now. I had a run of bad luck with my truck and just when I was looking for a new car a newspaper ad jumped out at me. I made a phone call and found that this lady wanted to sale her husband's "racecar" because he took their porsche and went to Tx, without her. But hell I dont care what when on between them I got a pretty nice little ride out of it, she sold me his 1985 GSL-SE, black, all stock but came with an extra set of wheels with slicks mounted on them. Since I have owned her, ll I have done is put a cold air intake on, I installed a complete stereo system but have recently traded the subs and amp for leather seats. I got into the custom tint thing and tinted red flames with a complete mirror backing into the side windows, some may say its "ricey" but since doing so I have made myself a little side job to bring in some more money for my car heh. I am currently in the works of opening my own car audio/tint business. Only thing holding me back right now is I broke my leg at work so I cant do to much of anything, but sit around watching movies and building models. Doc says I only have about 4-5 more weeks though then I can finally drive again. Well I think thats enough for now because Im getting hungry and shall go find food mmmm food heh Latez everyone
