Good to know about the low noise levels .. it would always drive my mom crazy when i drove her around. She thinks its a ticking time bomb lol ... As soon as Iget the manifold back from Scott (he's powdercoating it) I'll be on the block for fitment and stuff. Also I will need to get a braket fabricated to hold the IAT right at the inlet of the ITB's

Kenku 09-01-07 10:20 PM

I guess... hrm, not to be critical, but how's that different from, say, a TWM DCOE throttle body? Neat bit and all but...

dj55b 09-01-07 11:38 PM

To be honest I don't know as I haven't really compared them side by side, but I've read reallly good reviews about both, but I was trully impressed with what Fuji has been doing with the miata cars that I decided to go with him. He also like to deal one on one, which to me means excellent customer service. I always like to help the little guys.

dj55b 09-04-07 10:33 AM

So i talked to Jimmy and asked him that specific question and this is what he had to say:

"TWM's TB's should perform like ours and the difference is theirs is made in the U.S. and ours in Japan. I cannot comment on their quality/strength but our TB's have never failed when it comes to the Throttle springs with the top HONDA & MAZDA Tuning/Racing shops. I do know that some companies IRTB Throttle springs have failed on the Rotary but not ours. Source is RX 7 performance handbook by Mike Ancas. I did want to add that we concentrated heavily on the Miata and have outsold TWM by alot and now we will focus on the Rotary and I believe that will also help."

I think Jimmy likes to do one car at a time basically and perfect a kit for everyone of those cars. Starting out with the Miata's, then going with the S2000, and soon rotaries. He has always had a softspot for rotaries, so we should see some great results out of that. I'm supposebly one of the few that have the rotary ITB from Fuji in NA. I will be updating him and the forum to the teeth with every little update.

I have also talked to Jimmy that when my car is all up and running and ready for dyno tuning, I will be doing dyno runs with various sized airhorns, and spacers to give you a visual comparison of the different version and will be totaling about 6 runs out of my own pocket for sake of documentatio on the forum.

If you guys have any more questions concerning the ITB's please let me know and I'd be more than happy to pass them along to Jimmy to help clear things out. One thing that I'm going to try to ask him, because I know there's quite a bit of demand for this, is having bodies with 4 injector bungs premade for us. I was using the calculator on www.rx7.com for the second gen and typed in my configuration:

720cc primary's
85% Duty Cycle

And resulted in 176.4 whp. I know that this is a rough estimate but I really thought it would be capable of more than that with dual 720cc injectors. Also I know this is on a 13B engine which is larger, but having mine SP I figured it would be about the same fuel consumption size if not more than a stock port 13B.

I have always liked the look of this setup

http://www.efihardware.com/efi_throttle.html

But have not seen anyone try them.

dj55b 09-05-07 01:18 PM

ya thats basically the tweakit ones. It was the first one that i was considering going by looks, but as you mentioned I found no record of someone using them on documentation of how good they are.

2 Attachment(s)
A few more updates:

My Venom 720cc injectors came in today. These should be the high impedance ones.

Also another thing that I will be doing (won't be done till after the dyno runs though) the air horns , depending with which size I stick with, will be 24k gold plated, should be able to keep a bit of heat off the ITB, and coolness factor, the price on such a job will be about 350-400$ for both air horns ( good thing I don't have a v8 :D )

kapn krunch 09-10-07 06:08 PM

are the little nipples under the injectors for the omp?

dj55b 09-10-07 06:12 PM

No they're not, they're vacumm nipples that are usually used to hook up the MAP sensor off the standalone ecu.

Oil will have to be feeded like a 13b engine ( oil injectors)

diabolical1 09-10-07 11:08 PM

really nice stuff there.

thats a good idea of what those injectors will do, hp wise. should be just about right for a ported 12a

dj55b 09-10-07 11:18 PM

Sorry that should say 176 flywheel Hp not wheel hp ... is that still about acurate ... because that would be more close to 155 ish at the wheels ...

orion84gsl 09-12-07 03:39 AM

oooooooooo looks good with the injectors and rail on there... and although that seems like a fairly low hp, remember how responsive that engine is going to be. You'll be slamming into the redline every gear. Can't wait to get mine. 24k gold. Go ahead everyone and say it... I always do, he's nuts

dj55b 09-12-07 11:46 AM

I prefer being called Loco ... but nuts are good ... you are what you eat afteralll :p: If anyone is wondering, the bolts size required for mounting my venom injectors are 3-1/4" long m6 fine thread or something like that ... Of course me had to get the Stainless Steel bolts :D

Jeff20B 09-12-07 01:13 PM

You seem like a guy who only has one project. :) Gold this, stainless steel that.

mikey D 09-12-07 01:47 PM

I have TWM throttle bodies,
all throttle bodies are basically IDA or DCO stuff just like a carb. Not really that fancy but better than stock stuff.

http://www.mazspeed.com/forum/thread...d=33&styleid=1

TWM has 4 injectors and billet fuel rails and some other small things that I really liked over some of the other makers.
.

dj55b 09-12-07 02:40 PM

How much was the TWM kit?

I'm the kinda guy that likes to try to perfect everything as much as possible, with the alloted amount of money a project at a time. I am how ever looking for a good old school 240z, or vw baja bug to store for furthur projects. If going the 240z way, plans for that will be either a 3 rotor turbo, or rb26 engine ... both turbo obviously.

mikey D 09-12-07 06:30 PM

$900 or less, Recipt is somewhere around this place im sure.
I also got throttle pull gadgets and a haltech tps for it while I was at it.
I really prefer 4 injectors for better low speed atomization and I like how the rails attatch to the throttle bodies. the rails are supported by the throttle bodies instead of the injectors.
50mm with short v stacks.

Im happy with it.
I liked the stuff that the aussies sell but the shipping hassel and time zone differances are a PITA

there are some real cheep setups out there and stuff thats even costlier.
TWM is just a few hours away and close to my engine builder.

dj55b 09-12-07 11:11 PM

It would be good to have like 2 comparable bodies from different manufacturers and see what the real difference is. Like I said i've kinda looked at them all and liked the way Fuji was going heading and their results, so I thought i'd give him a shot. If I need more injectors as mentioned its not really a big deal as I can dril for them inside the intake manifold for fairly cheap. But post up your results along with a dyno sheet if you can to show us what those goodies will do.

dj55b 10-19-07 09:52 PM

Thought i'd update this thread also for further reference of other people. here's the ITbs kinda mounted in the car

when do you anticipate it being ready to fire?

mikewoodkozar 10-20-07 07:50 PM

When do you plan to replace the beehive oil cooler, lol?

dj55b 10-20-07 10:14 PM

Hopefully the engine should be fired up begining of next month ish.

As for that beehive its going soon, the one that I had planned for my car I had to use on a buddies car because we apperently cracked his installing them (you know the spot on those FB oil coolers). I actually just got a second gen one a few days ago and will be going in. but thanks for the concern ... the engine was streetported about a year and a half ago, so should be goodish lol.

redbstd 10-27-07 01:17 PM

Hey to run ITB's what components from my se can i use.
