Fd oil pump in 12a

Cant seem to find info on this, how can i swap fd oil pump into a 12a housing, is it a direct swap will there be any clearance issues?

i've never heard of that, but you can use the FD oil pressure regulator, its the inexpensive version of the race oil pressure regulator

I know the bolt pattern for the oil pump changed from FB to FC, so I assume the FD is different as well.
Even if you make an adapter it'll throw the alignment of the sprockets off.

What all do I need fd regulator, shims or any springs I didn't even know there was a front and rear reg

I just replaced the oil pump on my 84 13B and can confirm that neither an FC or FD pump will fit. Ended up buying a 17mm pump from Mazdatrix. On my engine I shimmed the front regulator and I am using a Mazda Motorsports regulator. Pineapple Racing sells shims and modified rear regulators to increase oil pressure. https://www.pineappleracing.com/sear...find=Regulator

the FD rear regulator is at the same pressure as the race stuff, but its $30

Do you need higher pressure ?

Otherwise if the pump rotors are smooth and not scratched, you're good to go.

yes I need high pressure

Pumps will increase flow, which will only increase pressure if your current pump cannot match whatever relief your regulator is set to. Pointing this out in case someone is under the impression that they'll get substantially more pressure without going to a later/adjustable regulator. The front shim mod is bunk IMHO.
