Engine bay pic!

Here is a pic of my 79's engine bay. Note the Fiero fan and the 84' dizzy that I just installed :D I will have some better pics later.

Hey that Fiero Fan looks like it was made for it.

1) Does it keep it cool enough? Blows Hard? Loud?
2) Built in Shroud?
3) How Much?
4) More Pics...

riffraff 04-03-02 11:47 AM

is it just the picture , or is the engine bay really that dark... kinda cool, looks like a bottomless pit.

Max7 04-03-02 11:54 AM

Looks nice! the Fan does look like a perfect fit, but looks restrictive while on the highway.
I lightened up the photo

i think the first picture had more of a mysterious look to it, but engine bay definatly looks good... i love how there is som much room under our hoods.

sweet. finally hit the tripple six post count.. hell yah.

Max7 04-03-02 12:06 PM

I like how easy it is to change spark plugs when open like that.
I always challenge 3rd gen owners to a drag race, starting with a spark plug change, and then a 1/4 mile race, first to complete wins. hehe

jsinrx7 04-03-02 12:25 PM

Hey thanks Max7 for lightening that pic. The fan keeps the engine VERY cool, infact it runs cooler now than it did with the clutch fan! I picked this unit up from a salvage yard for $30 (that includes the shroud) the replacement motors can be purchased for 25 bucks from pepboys.

piston pounder 04-03-02 08:47 PM

Im pretty sure i gave you that idea!. it works great huh! later.

SuperPhly 04-03-02 09:13 PM

How did you paint your alternator that color? that's sweet. I am going to do mine in that mazda blue (like the stock air filter housing).

SuperPhly 04-03-02 09:15 PM

and how is your engine bay so damn clear of tubes and shit... i have lines running everywhere all over the place? Did you just tie them back and run the against the walls? I have stuff everywhere...

Looks like he removed all (most of?) of his emissions equipment.

yeah the fan is piston pounder's idea. As for the alt. I just masked off the areas and sprayed them with engine paint. There is absolutely no emmissions control devises on this car, that is why I everything looks so simple; I am obsessed with giving my car a clean, simple look. Just pull the rats nest out and block everything off! here are some more pics!

JIMMY54 04-03-02 10:06 PM

Wicked I was gonna do the fiero fan mod this week! That caught my eye right away!!

What did you need from the fiero besides the fan to make it work?

And How did you hook it up?

I have the fan and I'm getting the pontiac fan switch friday. Anything else?

JIMMY

Thanks in advance!

jsinrx7 04-03-02 10:14 PM

just go to pepboys and get a fan wiring kit for like 25 bucks (worth it) follow the directions and your set. dang pics wont attach, i'll try it one more time........

jsinrx7 04-03-02 11:13 PM

good pic here!

bingoboy 04-03-02 11:29 PM

nice nice guys.

gonzz 04-04-02 04:53 AM

So you got a fiero fan? and a wiring kit? Cool..

yayarx7 04-04-02 04:57 AM

need direct fire now:D nice engine bay!

jsinrx7 04-04-02 12:29 PM

Maybe I am dumb, but I still dont get how direct fire works. Do you just tap right of the coils? makes no sense to me. Jason

SuperPhly 04-04-02 03:18 PM

OK, sorry to ask you about all this stuff... but I have an 84 GSL Automatic stock and I wanna remove as much stuff under my hood as possible. I don't care about emmissions, screw the atmosphere.... hehe, I just wanna make my engine compartment look clean and easier to work in.

Give me some ideas. Thanks.

riffraff 04-04-02 03:20 PM

rip out the rats nest then.. if you donot need it, take out the a/c too (all of its random parts)

Jason Guthrie 05-12-02 12:04 PM

I am not concerned with polluting so much as I am smogging. Will a car pass CA smog without those things? I don't see how...
