Electrical problems

When I try to start my car I hear a poof and then the battery gage reads zero and none of the electrical thingies work. The gage reads 12 volts before I try to start it. What the hell could be going on? As soon as I turn the ignition off and on again the gage reads 12 and everything works but as soon as I try to start it it dies again. Any ideas? I have read about tests I can do with the starter and what not by they all require the starter to be turning or trying to turn by mine doesn’t even do that.

Are you battery cables tight? That happened to me when the NEG cable was loose.

Check your fuses, and make sure you battery is good.
