Jeff, I have the same setup as you and Sudox. I tried to re-fit the shroud like you ant to try, but was totally un sucessful. :( If you figure out a good way, please let me know, and post pics?

The '74 REPU has a 16" clutch fan and shroud. I mounted my 16" electric fan to the shroud so it would suck through the oil cooler just like the stocker. It worked better at low speed than the FB fan and '77 18" shroud I later replaced them with. The FB fan works better at idle and high load with decent speed driving.

The fan is backwards to clear the waterpump pulley. I had to use a set screw to keep it from slipping off the mount. I just reversed the wiring to make it spin backwards.

Do you guys notice any HP gains or quicker reving from an electric fan? I was thinking about putting one on my 85GSL. It seems like the clutch fan is a little too tight. It speeds up quite a bit with engine revs. A bit more than I think it should.

My mustang clutch fan seems to be a bit looser, and not have as much drag on the motor.

Ahhh, you did it finger chopper style. Cool.

Yea I noticed the difference. Small but noticeable.

Nice mounting Jeff

Check out the contour fan...

Thanks. It seems the 10" fan I mounted on the '79-'82 short style rad in the MG works ok. It's a little small, but there is no room for anything larger. I tested it while it sat there idling. I think driving would keep cool air constantly coming in, instead of the slow-flow it was experiencing today. I'll know more after a brake job and other useful mods. ;)

At least on this SA, there is no such "clearance drama" as can be seen in how snuggly comfortable the Derale is inside that FACTORY shroud...;)
