looks great.

almost looks like it should be factory

great job

ChasRX 10-15-05 10:58 PM

excellent fab job. That blends well; subtle enough, too.

damn huge pics, hella nice job

rotor vs. piston 10-15-05 11:45 PM

That rocks man! Can you give us a side shot to see how high it stick up?

IanS 10-15-05 11:58 PM

I can snap a couple side shots. It actually sits a tiny bit lower than originally on a DSM. In now way will it affect vision and sits lower than the wipers.

i dig it, still stand by thinking cowl would be atleast functional tho :)

IanS 10-16-05 12:28 AM

Its functionally cool lol

seanrot 10-16-05 12:12 PM

Is that a lump in your hood or you just happy to see me? Nice job.

MrFC3S 10-16-05 12:21 PM

That is a lump in his pants AND HE IS happy to see you... lol Nice jobby.... Best thing that could ever happen to a DSM hood. Did you think about making it offset alittle more... like closer to the drivers side?

K-Tune 10-16-05 12:24 PM

all 2nd gen eclipses have it...turbo or not.

it's more for the top of the valve cover where the cam sprockets are.

dbragg 10-16-05 01:53 PM

are you trying to clear something or just going for the look?

arghx 10-16-05 01:56 PM

It seems pointless to emulate something that was designed to accommodate stuff that's only on a piston engine. On the 1st gens with the 4g63 (both turbo and N/A) the bulge was there to make clearance for the cam gears. On the second gens the engine sits lower so I think it's only there for cosmetic purposes.

I can respect the time and effort that went into a custom job though.

Hyper4mance2k 10-16-05 02:00 PM

looks good. it'd be even cooler if it was functional though, but I'm supprised on how good it actually looks.

Just for looks. The hood is not cut out. I wanted to keep te hood as rigid as possible so it wouldnt flex too much and crack out. That is the second pis, showing that the hood is complete. The dots you see are the bolt heads that I JB welded in place so they wouldnt vibrate loose (happened while I was sanding) and crack out.

Next up, front bumper off of same car.
