Buzzer when i redline

Ok,
so when im reving really hig....my car will make a buzz to let me know im in the red. How do i get rid of it...its real annoying when im trying to show off the speed of my car and my friends are like "Whats that noise?"
Any help

that buzz can save your motor. otherwise find the buzzer under the dash and unplug it.

pratch 02-01-04 06:37 PM

Except it isn't under the dash - it's in the instrument panel for most of the years.

There's a post about changing the resistance to make it go off at much higher rpms. Use the search button and have fun.

Taking the motor over 7k wont necessary hurt the motor.

Most people don't even know about the buzzer because most of them don't work haha

Once it starts buzzing, count to three and SHIFT really fast!!

mazdaverx713b 02-01-04 08:29 PM

i personally think it is a great thing! what other car do you know of that has a factory redline buzzer? just something else to add to the uniqueness of our car.

faye x7 02-01-04 09:24 PM

Mine has never worked, but my bro's did and it scared the shit out of me.

Nick-7 02-01-04 09:36 PM

I call it the fun buzzer.

Hey does anybody know if they have the buzzer in the rx8. It would be cool if they had it since they kept it all the way up till the FD

851stgen12a 02-01-04 10:50 PM

as far as I know it is in the 8 as well.

snakes99 02-01-04 10:54 PM

yeah they do have it on the rx-8, i test drove one, and it comes on around 8-8500 rpms, its lets you know your getting close to redline. i think it has a rev limiter at 9 tho

Does the car keep pulling past 7k? My motor just makes more noise... :D

rxtasy3 02-01-04 11:38 PM

Mine has the buzzer too, comes on at like 6500, I like it. It's a good thing, u don't have to look at the tac to know it's about time to shift.

werd 02-01-04 11:39 PM

Ive had 2 rx7s and they both have worked. Personally, i dont even hear the buzzer anymore. My friends always point it out.

ZachstylezRX7 02-02-04 12:56 AM

Yeah seriously, i don't have a problem with it. When that thing buzzes i need to shift anyways, so it keeps me in control. And if you have it, you will know it. Things are fricken LOUD and obnoxious. But hey, i love em.

the rx-8 has the same type buzzer as the 93-95 U.S. spec cars. as far as i know, it is also the same at any other trim level from 93-2000.

luiml73 02-02-04 02:29 AM

I love the buzzer.

That's her way of telling me she just "Climaxed":D

Junia 02-02-04 06:59 AM

I wonder if all mazda's have the same buzzer. I don't see people taking their regular piston engine car to redline like we do with our sevens though

mazdaverx713b 02-02-04 09:35 AM

piston engines go BOOM!

The STi has a buzzer and a shift light. Well, I guess you could call it a buzzer... It is a series of three beeps that sound when you pass a certain RPM. The buzzer is totally adjustable from a knob on the gauge cluster. It is set from the factory at 6500 because that is where the STi makes peak power, but I hear what you are saying, bro. I totally agree that the buzzer is awesome.

white84GS 02-03-04 04:20 PM

Mine sounds at 6500rpm's........I would be cool with keeping the buzzer. Is there a way to turn down the volume?......it just so darn loud!!

Ludicrous 02-03-04 04:31 PM

I like the buzzer - I'll redline just so I can hear it talk to me, but mine doesn't go off until 7k.
