Buying a first gen
 
Sup everybody.
I am thinking about buy a 83 gsl.
the guy said it smokes alot when he used it. its been sitting for a little while. note sure how long. anyways how hard is it to take out and take aprt the engine to replace the apex's. then to put it back togather. let me know thanks matt22

if it smokes then the rest of the rotor seals are going to need replaced, but you should change the apex seals anyway.

how hard is it? i dunno, how good of a mechanic are you? :) Seriously, the engines are stone simple but like anything else your chances of everything going smoothly greatly depend on how well you know your way around a toolbox.

Well i am going to buy the car for around $300 bucks, and it has a straight body and is completely original. I figured that i could try to fix the engine and if i could just drop in a 13b or something. it should be a good learning experience. later oh and I also think that i can do it cause if i have a problem sone one on this forum should know the answer. I am looking to turn the first gen into a racer / drifting/ have a good time car. its a GSL so i think it should have the Limited slip differential and the 4 wheel disc brakes. anyways thanks Matt22
