Broken Transmission?

So I pulled the motor out of my car and the transmission started to drain fluid all over the floor. I noticed the torque converter (This is an auto, obviously) had slid forward when i pulled the motor forward and it was leaking out from behind it. I pushed the torque back in and the leak stopped. Is this normal or did something break internally (meaning should the torque converter slide out like that?) If its meant to slide out like that it would make sense that it would leak since the shaft was probably far enough out that the fluid leaked around the oil seal.

Moral of the story: Did i break my transmission or is the torque converter meant to slide out?

Sounds normal...but we can tell you it's broken if it will help to justify a manual tranny swap.

The torque convertor slides right off. It's not an issue. The torque convertor is filled with fluid so some will leak out. If your interested in changing over to a manual trans, I just converted my 1985 GSL for auto to manual. I had to fab up a transmission brace out of 3/8 steal. I'll have a write up with everything needed once I get some pictures.
