brake master cylinder question

can a master cyl from a 1984 with non-power brakes be used temporarily (just to get the car home) on a 1985 with power brakes?

FD Racer 11-10-03 10:32 PM

yes, temporarily

FD Racer 11-10-03 10:33 PM

oh, and I think you ment non disk brake rear, right? All first gens had power brakes I thought.

frigidmonkey 11-10-03 10:35 PM

oh ok, I didn't know they were all power.... and yeah, the "parts" car I'm going to pick up has rear discs and a bad master cylinder, my car has a good master cyl. but it has rear drums

the brake master from my old parts gsl-se was INDENTICAL to the one in my 81

same numbers on it and all

FD Racer 11-10-03 10:46 PM

yeah you're cool. I ran 84/85 front and rear gsl-se brakes on my 82' GS for several months with the stock master that originaly powered rear drums. The backs might lockup a bit easier thats all.
