Brake booster

would a bad brake booster cause a vaccum leak bad enough for my car not to idle? :scratch:

Yes. If you look at the size of the vacuum line which powers the brake booster, you'll see that it's about 1/4" ID, making for a sizeable vacuum leak which would negatively affect idle. Probably not too bad once you got some RPM, but any vacuum leak is going to cause poor running condition.
