Best spring/shock combo?
I've searched a bit on the forum, but i'm wondering if anything else has popped up over the past year or so. I was looking at a set of RB springs and Tokico shocks, but that's adding up WAY to quickly. I'm looking for something inexpensive that will be an improvment over stock, while also lowering the car a bit. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Also.. Anyone here good at aluminum fabbing? I have a nice set of wheels for my 7 that is missing '1' center cap. I can't find parts for these wheels anywhere, and would need someone to make me one. Matt |
That's a matter of opinion. Those, like me, that have really only had one set up are not valid. Though I will say that in most cases I love my set up, just stiff enough to ensure I don't have a willing passenger. With my set up all I can say is that I believe I drive it hard when I can, and I do mean hard, and I don't feel I'm really aproaching it's limits. So I would recomend it, but can't say really whats best. BTW don't be ashamed to buy low mile used stuff, I got my entire set up -SE stuff too for about $550, the only thing I needed was the Ebrake cables.

Matt As for aftermarket springs there are Eibachs, Racing Beat, Suspension Techniques, TMC, etc. Shop around, start with www.shox.com |
I got my illumina shocks and eibach springs for $618 from shox.com
springs- 199 fronts- 229 rears- 189 |
I went with the following and couln't be happier:
Suspension Tech Springs - Because they the closest to stock spring rate Tokiko HP - Good price and well rated P-S-T bushings Inner / Outer tie rods replaced - Tightened up steering Suspension Tech front and rear sway bars - yet to be installed Idler and Pitman arms replacement - yet to be installed I don't race, autox or drift...those who do might want a different setup... |
The best combo: JIMTESLA.
I havent seen him around but I got a set of tokico blues and tokico springs for $175. :bigthumb: |
I bought a set of Eibach's for $220 new, and then Koni fronts from eBay for $75 and Tokico Blues for the rear for $68 somewhere online. Tokico Blues for the front are fairly good and inexpensive also.
You can find other springs cheaper, but the Eibach's are good quality. |
I got Illuminas and RB springs all way round. Now to help stiffen the chasis up I got upgraded sway bars front and rear. It's stiff I won't lie. But I love that feeling I love it a lot. I recommend it if you're looking for that stiff ride but with great maneuverability and overall radical ride.

i autocross on RB springs and Tokico HPs, was very predictable and stable at high speeds/cornering G's.

These worth trying? They are pretty inexpensive:

Ok.. I ordered a set of RB springs, and Tokico shocks. Came in at right under $400. Should be just what I need. Thanks for all the info!
