available aftermarket 4 x 110 wheels?

I know this question has been asked a million times and answered 10 million times, but I can't seem to find a very good, useful 2012 answer.

It would especially be nice to go to the popular 15 x 7" tires.

Any suggestions? Anybody got some for sale, new or used?

I'm thinking about trading in the X wheels.

Redliner223 06-17-12 05:57 PM

Here are some places cheap or expensive where you get get wheels

Hayashi
Watanabe
Konig
Rota
SSR
Diamond Racing
team dynamics..... not really sure might want to check
Volk.... super tiny size, but 4x110 (14x5)

That's all I know. I can name companies and the wheels that were produced in 4x110.

ray green 06-17-12 07:02 PM

Need pics and prices. I like that rewind/panasport look, something like this would be great:

Thanks!

85rotarypower 06-17-12 09:17 PM

AFAIK panasport still makes wheels for the 4x110 pattern. Not sure on size though. They are quite pricey, over $230 a wheel last time I checked. Beyond that, there is Diamond Racing wheels for the stock car look, can get those in a number of different sizes and configurations and are under $100 a wheel. I think as far as new goes, the only easily accessible wheels beyond those two previously mentioned would be the Konig Rewinds, I think.

Redliner223 06-17-12 10:38 PM

Man the wheels I mentioned are like close (super close) to $500 a wheel. Except the obvious ones of course.

ray green 06-18-12 05:34 AM

Thanks for the links. Nice looking wheels but those prices are making the X wheels look better all the time.

I found these on ebay, but their fitment calculator says they won't fit a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL. Does anybody know if they will fit and what the problem is?

Thanks

Keeble 06-18-12 07:20 AM

they will fit and stay inside the fenders. I have a set of Kosei K-1's and the are 15x7 with a +17 offset so the +20 konigs should work just fine

82transam 06-18-12 08:16 AM

Pm'd you Ray. :)

ray green 06-18-12 01:15 PM

Those rewinds are nifty looking wheels 82transam, they are high on my list right now:

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...9&d=1336933089

So it looks like the Konig Rewinds (above) and the Rota wheel RB's are what's currently commonly available (or can be purchased new for a reasonable price).

They almost look like the same wheel to me, does anyone know if there are significant differences, especially in quality and actual appearance? (I've never seen one in person).

And am I right to conclude that the original "old school" panasports and others that rewinds and rotos are copying are now unobtanium?

Thanks for the help, this is fun!

82transam 06-18-12 01:29 PM

Yeah the Rewinds and RB's are basically the same thing. I've seen RB's in person and they looked good, but without seeing a Rewind right next to it, it's hard to tell what (if any) differences there are.

cshaw07 06-18-12 01:48 PM

has anyone had any luck calling a company that makes a wheel in the size you want and asking to buy them without lug holes drilled into them? I tried before with drag wheels and they said only if i buy 100 sets...

john smack 06-18-12 02:01 PM

Just orderd a 2 rota rb wheels 15x7, $330 shipped to my door in Canada. Although they dont speak very good english you cant beat that price

challer2000 06-18-12 03:37 PM

I have the REWINDS on my 7 I can take any measurements if you want any. I did order a spare from Discount Tire a few years back… it was $110 per wheel. I’ll have to do some digging but I originally bought a set of 4 from a website that was advertising on our site here and it was $450 shipped for the set…

I was running the rewinds with 205/50/15 and no issues with stock springs there was about 1/4" clearance between the spring and the tire. Now I’m running Re-Speed coilovers and rewinds.

*EDIT*

I bought my rewinds from JLB motorsports but it looks like they went out of business.

http://www.good-win-racing.com/Mazda...els-Tires.html has them for $119 per wheel

theNeanderthol 06-19-12 12:04 AM

I'm a fan of these

http://www.imageinmotion.com/RB1570-4110-20-.htm

ray green 06-19-12 08:57 PM

I like the Rota's too, especially since they seem to come in silver (or maybe even white?)

Whatever, I'm shopping for a set of these or similar:

http://www.imageinmotion.com/pics/rota/rbsilver.jpg

http://www.good-win-racing.com/miata...ms/rewindS.jpg

Thanks for the help guys!

PercentSevenC 06-19-12 09:13 PM

I've seen both in person. The difference is the RBs have a bit of a ridge on the spokes, whereas the Rewinds are rounded. Personally, I prefer the RBs, but it's just a matter of taste.

Redliner223 06-19-12 09:56 PM

I like the Rb's myself. I just don't like the banana style Konigs.
OOOh, they also make a wheels called the B-Bomb and that comes in 4x110, I believe it's a 15x7.5 0 offset I maybe wrong though.

ray green 06-19-12 09:59 PM

I'm thinking the same thing, I like that ridginess. And both seem to be available in silver.

But the RBs are about 25% more expensive it seems, so I'm wondering about quality. The RB's are a product from the Philippines. It's hard to tell about the Konig's, but they sound German.

I'm going to compare their specs item by item, see how they match up.

rxtasy3 06-20-12 12:12 AM

the spoke design is different.

Sgt.Stinkfist 06-20-12 12:18 AM

Rota also makes another style for 4x110 pattern, 15x8 +10 Offset, called the shakotan (hyashi racing knock offs)
... And much to the dismay of the wife, now that konig b-bombs come in 4x110 im gonna hafta pick those up too. (B-bombs are a much more affordable knock off of SSR MK3's)

t_g_farrell 06-20-12 07:03 AM

Panasports are still available, many dealers here in the states. Theres also the website
http://www.panasport.com. I think Mazdatrix sells them as well.

BD has some wheels that are panasport knockoffs
http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icata...l.aspx?Page=64, about $200.00 per wheel.

Personally, I like the rewinds and for the price they are hard to beat.

The 15" size is becoming the new 13", meaning I hear its hard to find good performance tires
in 15" sizes, but I'm sure you'll have no problems with street tires.

cfamilyfix 06-20-12 07:48 AM

Wow...the B Bombs are really nice

ray green 06-20-12 07:56 AM

I saw those Panasports at Mazdatrix, a bit pricey at $229 each plus shipping, but they sure are pretty

http://mazdatrix.com/pictures/panasport/panasport2.jpg

I wonder what the differences are between a true racing wheel (the Panasport?) vs a made-for-ebay knock off like the Rewinds or RBs?

Those Rota Shakotans are an interesting looking wheel, but hard to visualize on an FB. I think they're meant for old school Corolla type sedans, not two seater sports cars like FBs or MGBs

https://upload.pbase.com/mattjkphoto...5/original.jpg

Also the width would have to be 8", which gets you into 215 tires, I suppose, probably a bit much for my little 12A. Might be rubbing issues as well.

So I'm down to the Rewinds, RBs and going all out for some real live Panasports. I wonder if there are any other outlets for the Panasports with more competitive pricing?

Sgt.Stinkfist 06-20-12 07:44 PM

i have the shakotans, just not on the car yet. They should fit without too much issue. i have some 195/50 RE-01R's mounted on them, so the sidewall has a slight taper inwards. ill try to post up some pics before this thread grows quiet

Redliner223 06-20-12 07:56 PM

I will be replacing my waffle wheels with a set of 15x7 20 offset Hayashi streets.
The knockoffs In my opinion look cheap on any car.

KansasCityREPU 06-20-12 08:49 PM

I picked these up from an RX-3 darg car. 4x110 13x8 on back and 13x7 on front. They have some old slicks on them. The are Ansen Sprint from the 1970's.

ray green 06-21-12 07:17 AM

I like those Ansen Sprints, real clean look. If they made that in a 4x110 15x7 and they didn't cost a fortune they would definitely be on my list.

Its the weight, the lighter the wheel == the higher cost

ray green 06-21-12 04:17 PM

I see, Less is More.

But what about the beauty contest? Are Panasports prettier than Rewinds or RB's?

challer2000 06-21-12 06:59 PM

Here is a couple of beauty shots of my REWINDS wrapped with BF Goodrich Gforce KDWS... maybe it will help your decision.

Yep, that works, very nice. That's for sure the back up plan, unless something prettier comes along.

rwatson5651 06-23-12 08:30 PM

Hey Ray,

Here is one more alternative to consider. I am considering having some custom hubs made for my car to facilitate larger brakes and at the same time reduce my unsprung weight quite a bit, anyway if this happens then I have two really, really nice sets of BBS 15 X 7 20 mm offset 4x 110 wheels that I will not be able to use. Both sets are in like new condtion and would come complete with wheel centers. One set has the original black powder coat finish and I had the other set reconditioned and powdercoated in a metal flake gunmetal color. I like this color better than the black cause the black tends to "disappear" on my white car, the grey/silver ones stand out better. This set would come with a gaurentee to have no runout and be within factory specs. Here is a pic on my car:

http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/...at10-22-14.jpg

Just a thought, if you like the way they look I would give you the family discount.

dexspeed 06-26-12 05:49 PM

I happen to have a set of Shakotans on my FB. Hopefully this helps you guys. Just note that the tires are stretched a bit at 195/50/r15 to fit within the fenders.

Yep, you can get those Shakotans on ebay. You guys are making me drool.

Ex-Eg-Driver 06-26-12 10:59 PM

Dex speed what suspension are you running. Looks great

Sgt.Stinkfist 06-27-12 12:06 AM

nice Dex ;) I just put my shakotans on today, and my car is also tornado silver... and im also using some 195's. Asides from the fog lights, our cars are twins :O

82transam 06-27-12 08:00 AM

Damn, thats the first time I've seen Shakotans on a FB and I must say they look great. They really suit out cars... Now you guys have me thinking.... lol

rwatson, your car looks awesome as usual! Thats a great picture!

I'm running Racing beat springs all around with Tokico blues. Racing Beat sway bars and quite a bit of urethane. That picture was taken in early spring right after the suspension swap. The car sits about an inch lower now that the suspension has settled.

Redliner223 06-27-12 11:58 AM

dexspeed, can you take a picture head on with your wheels straightened out?
I would just like to see what kind of poke you got going on.

Sure, I'll try and get a picture up for you by Monday at the latest. There is enough poke to make you cautious of your surroundings ;)

same wheels as Bad83's car:

blackdeath647 06-30-12 09:32 AM

unfortunately i don't think they make this model anymore. I got these off a forum member last year. and there was a couple of ppl selling some not long ago the "wheel and tire" section under the "for sale" always has good deals ;) As far as price, you can find a good set of Roh Snypers wheels and tires for about 600 ish. i drove to New Jersey to get mine for 250...too good of a deal to pass up.
