Autopower Roll Bars and Roll Cages

does anybody have pics of the Autopower Roll Bars and Roll Cages from Mariah installed?

I want to see if they work with an interior and dash in place

JIMMY54 11-11-08 09:56 PM

I have an autopower rollcage, I assume it would be the same from Mariah.... Door panels have to be removed, besides that it contours the rest of interior very nicely. Follows a-pillar tight and along the roof nicely aswell.

I'm looking at getting just the roll bar section. How does it fit around the interior?

Where does it go down in turms of the rear bins? Is it tight to the sides of the car? I know I will need to cut out some of the bins to get it in but I didn't know how much.

Is it impossible to install without the door panels?

Rotarx7 11-12-08 11:55 AM

i only have the 4 point but its perfect for me cuz my car is my daily.
i dont have any rear interior yet. hoping to find all of it sometime

Thanks, I'm happy. I almost didnt even see em! they are perfect.

with the side impacts in how much of a pain is it getting in and out?

JIMMY54 11-12-08 09:10 PM

I dont have any seats in the car at the moment to comment on how hard to get in with them, but without its still pretty tight. You better be flexible to get your legs up high enough over the bars to get out...or put a foot on the seat i would think. But yes, no door panels are possible, unless you totally remove the arm support ie. flat door panel.

The rear hoop fits very nicely, better than i expected and mounts on the floor just infront of that support beam where the bins cover.

Not trying to threadjack, but would those roll bars work on a RX with back seats? I don't want to ditch them.

Also, I heard that second gen 4 points would work in a first gen.

JIMMY54 11-12-08 10:42 PM

I really dont think they would work with back seats as the cage seems to be slightly slanted towards the back of the car. Also as i meantioned before it mounts right infront of the crossmember, which im sure the seats would stick out past, and lastly, the rear mounting points go to the wheel wells, which i would think are covered by the seats?

Its very possible that the 4 point may fit as i believe this part number is shared amoung various other cars. Look it up on the autopower website.

For the driver seat... do you need that harness bar to put the harness belts? Can you just put it on where the roll bar is?

z-beater 11-18-08 07:42 PM

Jimmy, the door bars will actually fit w/ the door panels. I wish that I had a picture with them installed. It is a tight fit but will work. In a couple spots it will depress the door panel a little.

On a street car the side bars are really annoying though. I hardly ever use them.

The way he has the harness set up right now is actually less than ideal.. With the straps angled down like that behind the seat a crash could cause spinal cord compression.

The proper way to anchor the harness straps is to have them horizontal or slightly above horizontal. That harness bar you are talking about is there for a reason..

Thanks! I was thinking why not just use that bar that's on the roll bar...

What bar are we refering to? The little skinny one?

speedturn 11-21-08 08:27 AM

Phalerider: Are you intending to go racing some day with your roll bar? If so, make sure you study the rule book of the group that you plan to race with. If you plan to race with SCCA, they are very strict about their roll cage rules, and you have to follow their rules exactly; don't make a mistake and install a cage that will not be race legal later on.

Yeah, that's what I was referring to.

mojave 11-23-08 02:51 AM

Is there any bar available with a safe strap mounting location for both the driver AND passenger? Everything I've found only has the "little bar" for the driver, I'd like the passenger to be able to survive a crash too.

trochoid 11-23-08 07:15 AM

Don't ise the bar for mounting. Run the straps over the bar, then anchor them to the hatch floor.
