Anyone know how many GSL-SEs were brought to the US?

Could have sworn I've seen this before, but I can't find it now. Just wondering if someone knew this.

the motor trend test says 7500 one year and 8500? the next, but that was printed before the cars were actually built.

Some 110,000 Rx-7 1984-5 models were sold in the USA but unfortunately Mazda never published data on different versions.

There was a sales department forecast that 15-20% of sales would be gsl-se, a target of up to 22,000. Sales according to informal sourses was that 1884 was above target, but down in 1985 as dealers get rid of old models and people going for the top end of the market held back waiting for the Gen 2.

Therefore, a figure of about 17,000 would be a good estimate. Trying to get figures from Japanese sources is a bit complex as data was often total North American market.
