AJC13B gets some new bits!
 

Hi guys!

I have updated my site with some new info on the car, I now have a smaller turbo on the car and changed my boost control solenoid with good results!

The little chunks of rubber you can see flying off is probably about $2.30 worth! lol

Max - Thats why I was happy when I heard it was broken so badly! lol It did an 11.8 on the A032Rs but with a dud box and 17psi. I can now run 19psi and have a decent box :)

mark - With me in it the car goes close to 2800lbs. The car usually has 1/4 of a tank of petrol in it. Nope, no line lock. Pluck 2nd gear, rev and dump :)

79+80 - I'm sure I could arrange $15 worth flying out the back for you :D

have you noticed a diff. in the car,,on outside air temps.
what do you do between runs ??keep the engine running, or let it cool,,somewhat,, you know,,does it
run stronger when it's over cast,cloudy,,,or hot and
humid,,or can you tell if there's any diff... still love
that red.,.

Nah the car runs hard all the time :D

The Haltech takes good care of the corrections for different air temps and what have you, so it goes well all the time! I don't get up it if its boiling hot though, the outside temperature that is! :)

Between runs I just let the car cool down, nothing special. The return road on the track is a far distance so I just take it easy and when i get back to the staging lanes I let it idle for a minute or 2 and turn it off.

I couldn't imagine trying to quick shift with my right hand!! :p:

Could I send you a cluster from my series model and you can have a tinker with it? I can pick up a cluster for $30AUS so its no big thing....

Guys at work were saying the same thing yesterday, try shifting with your left hand, we all were like OK. We'll try it tonite, so when I went riding around, I used my left hand to shift. it was like vrooooommmm wait wait wait wait shift, vroooooooom didnt work really well LOL

I shift with my left hand when I'm holding a drink (SOFT DRINK, not beer :) ) when driving. A little tricky but it's doable from the left side of the car. When I was 15 a friend of mine had a 4-speec Cavalier, and he made me shift it from the passenger seat because I "gotta learn to drive pretty soon". That was fun. (He wouldn't tell me WHEN to shift, I just had to "know")

I still think LHD has a more natural shift pattern, since the diagonal shifts (2-3 and 4-5 on ours) are straight out and away from the driver, whereas from the right ide of the car the angle you'd have to move your wrist/arm is more of an awkward angle. Hmm maybe that's why the Japanese are so horny for very short shift throws :) Gimme a decent amount of throw with a beefy crowbar-like shift lever and I'm happy! None of that little joystick-like stuff, makes ya feel like you're playing a video game.

okay.. i say we ban ajc13b from this forum until we get all of our sevens working up to par..

Its hard to explain, but we are all used to shifting with whatever side of the car we all drive on! I think I would do okay shifting with my right hand, but as it is I am quick with my right! :D

I have a quickshift in my car and its the best thing since sliced bread! Each gear change is literally a movement of the wrist. I flick gears, I don't 'select' gears, its great! I should be getting a capture card soon so I will have to get some footage :)

AJC, just a few Q's.
you mention the smaller exhaust a/r is giving you better top end,i would of thought the bigger the a/r the bigger the top end power/pull,but the trade of is bigger LAG.

The boost fluctuation you mentioned is caused by the solenoid?,i was getting the flucktuation without the solenoid so im trying to figure out whats causing it in my case(it was in my rx7 but im putting the motor in my rx3 now),so i dont want it happening again.
I was running your typical manual boost valve type.

You going to the creek this Wednesday?

Maz - I got the smaller A/R but also a complete exhaust wheel, hence the better top end :)

With the boost solenoid, the Haltech one was having a bat with the external wastegate from what HITman told me. Don't know what it was but its all good now :D

Not racing on Wednesday anymore :(

Ive read a few times that RHD is better for left handed people and LHD for right handed people. Ive read others Aussies say they are happy they have right hand on steering wheel...Im left handed and was told I shift gears very well from the first day i drove a car so maybe theres some turth in that....But if u spin the wheel 360 with 1 hand then maybe the reverse is more important. I wonder how others feel about it :confused:

i'm getting paddles and then i can sit in the hatch if i want :D
