Funny, it's the second question today. Yes, you can use the 12A front cover with a GSL-SE oil pan. However, the 12As only use a 2-channel OMP, so a GSL-SE front cover is preferable (same as Series 4). There is the added benifit of the turbo oil drain cast into the -SE front cover, though it needs to be drilled out to use. The GSL-SE front cover and oil pans are still available new, if you have trouble finding them used.

Which ever one you use, you will need to have the front cover modified to accept the S5 mop. Search through Steve84GSTII's, (sp), posts. He is the one to follow for the S5 conversions. You're better off finding an SE front cover and engine mount.

If you go standalone engine management, you can forego the mop and pre-mix.

If your gonna run the stock S5 (89-92) ECU and keep the OMP working on the engine, then you need to modify the SE front cover. It involves a bit of TIG welding and machine work, but its far less work and hassle than dealing with the alternatives, none of which are as clean, safe or proper as keeping things the way the factory intended.

Start searching, its all been covered a thousand times. If you need specific questions answered along the way, feel free to ask or PM me.....

Only if you use S5 EFI, and why would you do that? This sort of setup is best suited to aftermarket EFI.

Some owners need to retain emissions, otherwise, I agree, standalone.

those electric omp's on the s5's were crap anyway and really expensive to replace.
if i were you i would use the 12a front cover, block off the omp, and premix.
this way you will always know that your rotors are being properly lubricated.

im prmixing my 12A on top of the omp just incase lol, but i was reading some place that the if the s5 computer dose not see the omp it gose in limp mode to save the engine, i guss i could leve it pluged in and just not hooked up,
i was thinking today Y not jut make a new engine mount on my chassis, and custume build an oil pan like i would do with a 13B-re engine il looked at it tomarow and if it would out il do a wright up on it
thanks for all your imput helped me out lots

If running the S5 ecu, the electric mop and ecu must 'see each other'. Pre-mixing and mounting the mop off to the side is a viable option when not modding the front cover.
