Rotary does exhibit all 4 cycles of the otto cycle :) LOL

the 12a and 13b are 2 rotor motors. consists of 2 little triangels spinning inside a oval shaped rotor housing. very efficient design.
One tip, almost everyhting you know about Piss-ton engins... throw it out the window. the rotary motor os alot more simple to work on than piss-ton motors. If you go at the rotary thinking in piss-ton terms it will never make sense.

yes some people dont like piston motors in rx-7's, but some people also dont like wheels bigger than 15's on em, but you dont see those guys going ape shit. or the guys that prefer carbs/efi or turbo/na.

i think if one motor could ever start a civil war between car lovers this would be the one. we are CAR enthusiasts here. so realize that cars didnt always have little triangles and jsut because they dont have them bah i give up

Pistons are great as long as they're in at least a 4.15" piston bore in a V-8 configuration or have the name Ferrari on the valve covers, but they are not great in a Rotary eXperimental/Export 7...that is the problem with pistons in this "Rotary Community" as it so proudly states on the homepage.... ;) :cool:

Pistons should get flamed when the car exists because of the rotary. If you don't give two shits about the rotary engine in your 7, sell it and go buy a Z.

Piston motors are fine, but in a rotary? C'mon now don't be foolish. That's like buying a Mac and putting a pentium in it, or getting filet mignon well-done, or buying a beautiful in-ground pool then filling it up and replacing it with an equal sized (or larger) above ground pool. Some things just aren't done, and putting a piston engine in a rotary powered vehicle is one of them...

yet you would have no problem with a 20b powered ae86 or similar small import? or rotary midgets

a project is a project. if someone decides they want to throw a turbo 4 from a turbo coupe or a 350 from a chevy into an fb, its a project. same as swappin piston cars to rotarys.

Weight Penalty? I love hearing this from rotary guys. Especially ones with stereo's, AC's, power accessories, etc. If my car doesn't weigh under 2500 with myself sitting behind that ugly old V8, I'll shoot it Elvis style (pretend like it's a Pantera and it won't start!).

I might have fun turbo-ing a rotary if I had money to throw around, but...I don't. Guess I should put up my sig here?

Don't get me wrong - I GREATLY respect fast rotary-powered cars. They just aren't in my budget, or expertise....yet. Of course, I also respect extremely powerful B16's, B18's, H22's, SR20DET's, KA24DE's, 3SGTE's, and even those pesky little 2JZGTE's...in fact, you find me a single one of those combo's that easily bolts into my cute lil 85 GSL and gives me the ability to run tens (reliably), car included, for a grand total of under 3 grand, and I'll jump at the chance. Til then, though...it's 30 year old Windsor power for this particular project.

Putting a V8 in your 7? Good for you; but don't tell me I gotta like it, or even respect it. Those are my decisions to make, not yours.

Not at all - there are just certain things which are stupid, and certain things which aren't.

Taking all of the cheesecake out of a blueberry cheesecake and replacing it with chocolate may taste fine, but it's a stupid thing to do.

Taking the female parts out of your wife/girlfriend/significant other and replacing them with male... well, it might suit your tastes better, but damn if I won't shake my head and mutter "damn that's just wrong".

And so the same reaction comes from me whenever someone mentions Rx-7 and piston in the same thought. If I enjoyed a flat 6 in my rotary... er Rx-7, I'd be posting on the www.ruintherx7.com forum. :D

So sure, feel free to do whatever you want to your 7, but don't post in a rotary forum about how you just blew your head gasket, your valvetrain is being bitchy, or that you decided to get a sex change and are looking for a man now. :D
